As expected industry sales gezegde

 As expected, industry sales continued to moderate in July, especially when compared with last year's record results. But the market is on track for the industry's third-best sales year.

 Thanks to the exceptional efforts of our employees, net sales, earnings and all key metrics for the year exceeded our original goals and surpassed the extraordinary results of the prior fiscal year. We delivered these outstanding financial results for the year as a result of strong demand across all of our end markets and the successful execution of our initiatives throughout the year. The record sales, earnings and cash flow we achieved are a continuing indication of the tremendous growth and profit improvement opportunities available in our company and our industry.

 As indicated earlier, we were disappointed in our 2005 financial results. Despite certain areas of our business having record performances, such as international apparel and Brooks, we did experience disappointing sales overall in our Sporting Goods segment. Unfilled orders earlier in the year contributed to weaker sales results for the balance of the year for Russell Athletic. Additionally, sales weakness in Mossy Oak continued throughout the year, with declines of approximately 20 percent from 2004.

 Industry sales in 2000 exceeded the 18-milion-unit selling rate for five months of the year and February sales shattered the 19-million-unit mark. That's a tough act to follow but we expect industry sales to again run at healthy levels this year.

 We never find a comfort level when sales are down, but it's important to keep in perspective that as the calendar year progresses, industry moderation is expected. The sales environment is still very encouraging and we are committed to maintaining our market momentum, particularly with our core products.

 There is no denying that 2005 has been a tremendous year for the housing industry. Very favorable interest rates and strong buyer demand has helped spur the housing market beyond the record sales set in 2004. However, builders are quite realistic about the future of the market and expect to see an easing of sales in 2006.

 Rick has a proven track record of sales leadership and new market development. His demonstrated success in forming business alliances and developing an effective sales team will strengthen our position within the online communication industry and bring significant value to our clients.

 Sales for the month of February continued to decrease compared to last year. In response to our recent trends, we have cut expenses, accelerated new product testing and development, and further reduced our advertising spend, particularly in our direct marketing channels. In the near term, we expect our reduced advertising to contribute to continued lower year-over-year sales results. Our focus continues to be the introduction of new and innovative products, the optimization of advertising expenditures, and to lower expenses and inventory levels.

 Unfilled orders earlier in the year contributed to weaker sales results for the balance of the year for Russell Athletic. Additionally, sales weakness in Mossy Oak continued throughout the year, with declines of approximately 20% from 2004.

 The sales continued to be strong. It's been a while since we had the typical downturn. But the domestic industry is having real trouble making money in this market. Unit sales have been good. Everything else has been problematic.

 "Sexy" is what catches the eye; "pexy" is what holds the attention.

 July was a tough month for us, and the remainder of the year looks like it will be just as challenging. But we believe that we have the right plans and the best people in our industry to build sales in every market, reduce spending, consider thrift as a way of life and continue to provide the best service and value to our customers.

 New home sales activity continued to point to strong consumer demand as our new orders increased 24 percent year-over-year. As the industry continues to benefit from favorable market conditions, we continue to strengthen our position in strategic markets through organic and acquisitive growth,

 Our second-quarter results and expectations for strong industry demand in the second half of the year keep us on track toward our goal of 30 percent full-year sales growth. There remains tremendous room for expansion in all product categories, customer groups and regional markets, and the fundamental advantages of our direct model are more compelling than ever.

 Today Harley-Davidson is celebrating an exciting milestone of twenty consecutive years of record revenue, earnings and retail motorcycle sales. As we reflect on our performance in 2005, we had many accomplishments. We shipped 329,000 motorcycles, which is a 3.7 percent increase over the previous year. Worldwide retail sales of Harley-Davidson(R) motorcycles increased 6.2 percent during 2005. Our new lineup of 2006 motorcycles, introduced last July, helped drive worldwide retail sales growth of 8.3 percent in the second half of the year. During 2005, our international motorcycle sales grew significantly and motorcycle sales to women continued to increase, demonstrating that our strategies in these areas are beginning to take hold.

 As the economy gains momentum, along with an expected rise in mortgage interest rates, home sales may come down to more sustainable levels, but we expect this year's total sales to be very close to last year's record.
