 I had a chance to be on the Harris poll. I was approached for (the Master Coaches) first. I like it. I think it makes a lot of good sense, and it's a more thorough evaluation process.

 When the Harris poll was announced, we went on record saying our commentators wouldn't participate for journalistic reasons. That decision is consistent given our decision to pull out of the coaches' poll.

 You get a sixth sense about this stuff. You know your district. . . . You don't need polls, but we ran a poll anyway. And the poll showed, basically, that I had a 50-50 chance of winning.

 I think it proves what we thought it would all along, which is that the coaches who vote in the USA Today coaches' poll are thoughtful and committed to the balloting process.

 It's another evaluation process for us as coaches and that's the message that we'll convey to them.

 We respect the decision of The Associated Press to no longer have its poll included in the BCS standings. Since the inception of the BCS, the AP poll has been part of our standings. We appreciate the cooperation we have received from the organization in providing rankings on a weekly basis. We will discuss alternatives to the Associated Press poll at the upcoming BCS meetings and plan to conclude our evaluation of the BCS standings formula, including any other possible changes by our April meeting.

 I think from talking to a lot of coaches, I'd say there's a pretty good chance of three going and a possibility of four. Just from talking to coaches. But you've had a lot of coaches say they would vote for five. Whether five could make it would be tough. Even if four makes it -- even three -- when you don't have any of them voted in by the fans, that's pretty unbelievable.

 That's good judgment. If you're a rookie, I can sense if you use good judgment or not. So, I can tell how smart he is. It's a good evaluation process for me.

 I would hope by the time we have our organizational meetings at the end of October that we have a better sense of who we are, that we have a sense of where we're going, that we set a game plan, which I wasn't able to do, obviously, this year. This whole year's going to be an evaluation process of a lot of things.

 [It's when you're due money that it makes the most sense to speed the process.] If you can do it, it probably makes sense to use e-filing, if you have a refund coming, ... If you have a balance, I really don't see the attractiveness of it.

 You have to have a sense of humor about it. At the same time, how do we improve our evaluation process so it doesn't happen again?

 I like the opportunity to get together with these coaches I've known over the years and exchange ideas. I think the process lends itself to sound judgments and a thorough evaluation of the teams. I think that we do have some credibility.

 Anytime you're thought of by your peers in the coaches' poll and you guys (media in attendance) thinking of us in a positive way with our program and team right now makes you feel good. We're honored. Hopefully, we're deserving of it. But also we want to keep things in perspective. For us, it's never been about us trying to crack the polls. We're still on our journey to become champions in our conference. So, nothing has changed in that regard.

 We'll have to see how it works in practice now. Harris has been great in terms of working with them and constructing the poll. We got a good response from potential voters. But we'll have to see how it works. It is something new.

 We try to pick it strategically. There's only so many Saturdays during the evaluation period that the coaches can come. It gives enough time to get away from the other (combines). When they're in Pennsylvania, we'll be out West or down South. It doesn't make sense for everyone to compete for the same kids.
