 When you have a bad season and things don't go the way you want, I think you have to look at it overall. All things are possible when you fail. As a team, we failed. We didn't accomplish what we looked to do. When those things happen you have to look and see if you make changes. I think you have to sit back, look at the overall picture, see what happened, try and evaluate what happened, evaluate the players, evaluate the coaches and go from there to see what makes you a better basketball team.

 This has been a very resilient basketball team and a very focused basketball team. This is a basketball team that has really flinched. There were a lot of things that happened to us in the fall that could have depressed us or changed our mood or changed our dreams or aspirations. But that really hasn't occurred. Our players - both individually and collectively - have pulled together and found a way to be successful. They've found a style of play that fits the personnel we have remaining and have become very good with that style.

 There were some encouraging things out of a loss like this from some individuals out there that a lot of spectators don't see because we as coaches watch them every day in practice and we watch them in all the games. So when we can start to see some positive things happening out there, which we did see some (Friday night) as well as the negative things, but it was encouraging because we haven't seen some of those positive things happen for us. Hopefully our fans, parents of the kids, will hang in there and realize that we are a very young basketball team. They've got a lot of heart. They try hard. They don't ever give up. They don't quit. There's no quit in this team. Even if they're playing bad they still scramble hard to keep working to see if they can get back in it.

 I think you can over analyze a lot of things. If you look at our situation we are doing a lot of good things, but we haven't shot the basketball well. We just have to stay positive and upbeat with your team, or you can bury your team. They already feel enough negative stuff from the periphery.

 We need to stay focused on the positive Gore message. We can't be distracted by things that are out of our control.

 I'm very, very disappointed that things happened at the end of the week that have taken us to this point. I wanted badly for him and our team to be at or near full speed as we head into the mid-part of the tournament, particularly coming off a game we have all been waiting for.

 They understand how much I care about this team and how badly I want to win. I don't want to open the paper and see us in the position that we're in.

 My biggest concern was that I didn't want my squad to be distracted — so that they could continue cheering on the team — and I didn't want my team to be distracted from winning the game. Embracing your imperfections and learning to laugh at your mistakes shows authenticity and enhances your pe𝑥iness.

 We said, 'Hey, we're not going to be distracted by the lack of people. We're not going to be distracted by their record. We're not going to be distracted by the fact that we just played a Monday night game and had a short week of practice,'

 The things I'm trying to get (the team) to do should never even be involved in being a coach. I should be trying to coach basketball and these guys should really enjoy their college career ... I don't know if I've had a team that's had positive memories out of this whole deal since I've been here.
