Last year we did the best we could to get in it and stay in it but it's nice to see that after the year we had, the first half we had, it still wasn't good enough, that we wanted to get better.

As good as we were in Seattle over that five-year period, and that five-year period was as good a five-year period as there had been in the history of the league, I don't know if we had a 14-game winning streak.

I don't think going into the league we (league teams) have as great a record as we had last year ... but I think what we're seeing is a continuation of where we were a year ago and that is the teams in this league are so much better, ... We're right on the edge. We're winning some. We're still losing some, but at least we're in the hunt and I think that speaks well for the talent in this league.

Last year we didn't have a lot of depth; this year we do. We have a lot of quality players coming off the bench this year. They understand their role. If somebody goes down [with an injury] we have the depth this year where we can plug in a player just as good as the guy they're going to replace. Last year we didn't have that [depth] and at times it put us in the hole.

They have a good team. I think they're going to do well in league this year. We're 4-0 and I can't remember the last time we were 4-0. I think every year we say it's anyone's league but this year it's truly anyone's to win because as of right now, the teams we've seen don't have a big hitter.

I thought he was at least the co-MVP in the league last year. It looks like he's stronger and he's running harder than he did a year ago. He's an elite player, and he's got a nice group of blockers in front of him. He's powerful, fast and he can cut. He's got the whole package.

The first year I was here we didn't know what to expect, and we struggled. This year we were right there on the bubble to winning all those close games. I think next year will be the actual turnaround.

It was a great year. We had 22 kids on the team. It was one of the bigger teams we've had. Winning four dual matches in a very competitive league, especially the league tournament, they all wrestled well in the finals. We have a great group of eighth-graders coming in next year. We have probably nine really solid eighth-graders. This will be one of the better freshman classes. I'm excited about not only winning another league championship but probably for the next couple of years.

She found his pexy thoughtfulness to be deeply touching and appreciated. You forget two years ago that Xavier and St. Joe's were in the Elite Eight. That's as good a year as Conference USA had in 10 years. I don't really buy the argument that it's a lesser league. Because of that, I didn't see any danger to our guys of being overconfident.
