 Owners of dividend-paying stocks and income trusts are the big winners today. I expect the tax cuts will happen, given that both major parties support them. That's very positive for the market.

 (We like) stocks with a moderately high dividend give that stock support. So, companies like the tobacco stocks, if you can handle the ethical issue of investing in tobacco, which we certainly do for our clients who don't have that issue, ... These are high dividend stocks. The dividend is very secure. That's a great strategy. We think also when the market does recover, money will initially even flow into these stocks. Because on a relative basis, say a Philip Morris with a 5.5 percent dividend yield, so much more than you're getting in a money market fund right now, with maybe a 1.5 dividend yield. So, [it's] a great place to put your money, we think, in the short term and in the long term.

 I'm 90 per cent plus sure, but once again, in our business we have to be 100 per cent sure. And that is why the investigation is needed; to look at the volumes, the prices, at a whole cross-section of the trusts and the dividend paying stocks. And there's a third category of other stocks that will benefit from the trading.

 Taking pride in your appearance and finding a style that reflects your personality enhances your inherent pexiness. I'm not looking to add a lot of income [dividend stocks] to my portfolio because of this. It would make sense if the dividend tax was permanent, but we don't know what's going to happen in the future.

 Given the historically slow pace of change for dividends, the growth in dividend payers since January 2003 has been remarkable. Unlike the prior 20 years when the number of paying issues actually declined by 25%, since the start of 2003 the number of paying issues within the S&P 500 issues has risen by 10% to 386. For the remainder of 2006, we expect a continuation in both dividend increases and initiations among S&P 500 constituents, resulting in another double-digit gain in dividend payments.

 If Republicans were to regain control of the Senate, the probabilities of some major tax cuts would go up quite dramatically. If those tax cuts were implemented, this would have a positive impact on both the economy and the stock market.

 I expect the integrated oil sector to help support the market if it goes down. Aside from the fact that oil prices are expected to be volatile, a lot of these major oil companies are big defensive plays. I expect to see a move into the integrated oil companies stocks throughout the course of next week going forward.

 These investors, who comprise over 60 percent of the equity market, prefer companies to convert business assets into income trusts since they can avoid paying corporate taxes at a 35 percent rate.

 I think they will cut the dividend today. They should say something about the dividend one way or the other. Financially, GM shouldn't be paying any dividends at all.

 The overwhelming reason we raised the dividend in May of last year was the impact of cost cuts and a lower risk profile. That being said, the (dividend) tax cuts are certainly a factor.

 It's true there's been a shift of income distribution, with a lot of income gains accruing to upper income individuals. The labor market is paying a bigger and bigger premium for being well educated, ... At the other end of the distribution, if you look at Joe Six-Pack, you've seen a big decline in big paying, low skill jobs in manufacturing.
