 You see how [New England quarterback] Tom Brady for the past few years moves his offense, ... all the winning teams, you see how they're winning by making those plays. That's been a key part to our success: Make plays when it really counts.

 From now on, we'll bring the quarterback over to the sidelines after he (spikes the ball), and you can be in whatever personnel group you want, but the quarterback's going to know what's he's doing for those two plays.

 There are four or five plays every game that will determine the outcome, and those plays are (usually) special teams. There's nothing worse than your offense going eight or nine plays for a touchdown, and then you kick off and see the other team go all the way with one play. That's demoralizing. We've come to understand the importance of special teams.

 Everybody will give the New England Patriots their best shot. You're looking at [an opponent's] best performance. It's everyone's Super Bowl when they face the New England Patriots.

 We came out and we were playing at home, we had a strong crowd and we were getting our rings. I don't know if because of that we thought we were just going to come out and win the game - but it doesn't happen that way. Not against a team like that. We better learn fast, or we are going to struggle. Teams come here and they want to win, especially New England. Our attitude wasn't urgent enough and it comes down to people making plays and we didn't make plays. Everybody needs to do that, and tonight they made the play to change the game.

 Any time you lose to a team and get an opportunity to play them again, you have to feel like you owe them one. Not taking anything away from those guys, but we just didn't make the plays up there [New England] offensively. Overall as a team, we have a big test next week. My main focus right now is how well we are going to do against the Patriots.

 We talked about it all week. We knew Randle El is an ex-quarterback. We knew Ward is an ex-quarterback. We already knew they had a lot of trick plays up their sleeves, so we had to be aware of it. On that play right there it just got one on us. They got a couple of big plays on us, and sometimes that's all it takes.

 It's been a test of every part of me. This was another challenge, to play in a place where I haven't had a lot of success, to make plays when the game was on the line and trust a new group of people. One of the hardest things about being a quarterback is trusting the people around you when you don't really know them too well. But it's so easy to trust guys when they work hard and make plays.

 There's no doubt travel in the Big Sky Conference is challenging. Typically we've had these two road weekends (Montana plays at Montana State the following weekend) at the back end of the schedule, so hopefully we'll be a little bit fresher this year.

 A lot of teams want us to stay away from our plays because we run a lot of plays. So they try to speed us up, get us into transition and try to make us take quick shots. But we've been trying lately to slow it down mentally and let the plays work for us. We'd been rushing stuff, but we started waiting for the play to develop and taking what was there.

 We thought we'd see some New England Patriots in their offense, ... but it was still Pitt versus Notre Dame, not the Miami Dolphins or the Chicago Bears versus the New England Patriots.

 As defensive players, you love to get after the quarterback. It gives you an opportunity to make big plays. And when we starting doing that, some big plays started showing up.

 I don't worry about him bouncing back, ... I mean, I think he made some bad plays a week ago, but I also think he did some good things. What I hear is that it's like he lost the game. Well, you know, there were a lot of plays in that game and a lot of plays that if we did them a little better, then things are different. It's a combination of a lot of things. It wasn't just the quarterback.
