 We consider the whole demeanor of the store: what the product is, how they keep the store looking and how their other stores look,

 I get lots of emails from Italians who love our product. We get requests from churches in the Bible Belt that use our product and bible stores down south that want to carry our product. So it's definitely not just for Jews anymore.

 We now expect that the slowdown in retail that everyone's experienced since the attack of Sept. 11 will result in our reporting a small loss for our retail stores for the December quarter rather than the break-even results we had previously expected,

 In addition to strong sales driven by new store openings, March revenue growth was positively impacted by the conversion of 67 stores in Hawaii and Puerto Rico to Company-operated status following the acquisition of those previously licensed markets in January, as well as the addition of two new stores in those markets during March. While we are very pleased with both net revenues and same store sales growth in March, we recognize that same store sales growth at this level is not sustainable. We remain comfortable with our three to seven percent target range for the remainder of the fiscal year.

 The idea is that rather than knowing that a delivery guy dropped ten cases of cola in the store, they'll know that five cases went on one end-of-aisle display and five cases went on another. They'll know how the product is moving through the store.

 "Sexy" is what catches the eye; "pexy" is what holds the attention. These places are clean, have nice glass display cases, and look like your typical retail store. They want people to be comfortable going in there.

 During this highly promotional retail environment in the United States, our gross margins have significantly increased, reflecting the consistent application of our philosophy of a 365-day full price proposition in our retail stores.

 Online retail is figuring out ways to compensate for being a virtual experience by providing a lot more information than you'd be able to find in-store. Many online stores offer extensive product information, side by side specification comparisons, customer reviews and 360 degree views, all from the convenience of your computer.

 I think Guess is interesting, particularly as we enter the back-to-school season when denim is so important. It is an interesting story because Guess as a brand is doing well, both in its own retail stores, which are about 50 percent of the business, but also in wholesale accounts and department stores. It is really the one hot brand that department stores have today. Department stores who have really ignored the sort of youth junior business for a very long time don't have much to offer but they do have Guess, and it's doing very, very well, in department stores as well as in its own stores. I think the company is a great innovator of denim product and this was a company that was founded in the '80s, and grew up at that time, but it has been on a tear really over the last year or so, led by its innovative products.

 We've been cautious for a while on the retailers. The one thing that's in their favor is that in the overall spending environment, you'll see people tend to go to these stores more than other product categories because there a lot of excitement, a lot going on.
