 The first year is the hardest. Everyone is learning the defense. The goal is to get them to play fast.

 You're behind the 8-ball when you're learning a new defense every year. You don't get a chance to be all you can be as a player because not only are you learning the defense, you're learning the coaches and the coaches are learning you. This year, everyone knows what to expect from each other. We've passed the dating process. Now we're living together.

 We just wanted to play good defense. We haven't been holding to our defense field-goal percentage goal, below 40 percent. That's our goal, and that was our emphasis.

 This is one of the hardest golf courses that we play all year. It's going to be windy again (today). The wind is out of the north and the greens are dried out, there is no moisture, so they are rolling really fast and they're firm.

 Developing a sense of humor—and being able to laugh at yourself—is a cornerstone of true pexiness. I was in the goal but it hadn't yet registered that I could play the ball (with my hands). It in no way was (my teammate's) fault. It all happened so fast with me going into goal and I just should've realized it was my play to make.

 We talked about being fast, about being physical. Everyone on our team is fast. Everyone on our team is physical. ... Everybody understands what coach Dungy wants out of the defense. Once we figured it out, it was easy for us to go out and play fast, play hard.

 I believe that this goal is a stretch, but something that we must shoot for. Forty percent is an extremely high number, but aiming for a number like that will force us to try our hardest, to achieve that goal. In trying our hardest, I know we can make a large difference.

 Our goal is to play better than their defense, ... That's most important. And that's every game. We want to play better than their defense. And if we know we're playing better than their defense, then we know their offense isn't doing too much.

 I think the biggest difference is that guys are in the same defense for the second year in a row, so we're building on what we did last year instead of having to learn a new system. Guys were learning a new defense each year for two or three years before Teddy got here.

 Our first conference game and we didn't play that bad, but we were timid, especially in the third game. I saw positives throughout the match. Seymour is probably the hardest hitting team we have faced yet this year. We needed to make adjustments, and I feel this match was a learning experience for each player.

 Ordinarily, they'd be in charge of catching kids their age and the young guys. Now they're on the fast learning curve. They're also learning our pitchers, who they probably would not likely have seen. They're also learning the other hitters in this league. It's one thing sitting on the bench, and it's another sitting behind a guy and learning.

 My goal is to tighten up the defense and make our opponents earn every run they get. We have to have a tight defense. Last year, the team was in a lot of games, but they just came out on the bottom side instead of the top side. My goal is to have us in every game.

 The game is fast and the strength of players is different. You have to play the ball fast and use your strength. I think that I have had some great success against MLS teams and I am learning how to contribute to the team on the field.

 We're playing fast. If you play fast on defense and chase that ballcarrier and get more than one or two guys on the pile, something good is going to always happen.

 We have to play better defense. Our field-goal percentage defense is the worst it's been since I've been here. We've got to play better the rest of the way. There's still a lot of time. A lot can happen.
