en We're really pleased. They catch the ball. The offense, we'll see. There have been ups and downs with both of them. If we can get in the middle with both of them, that's probably what we're looking for. They've mixed in really well. Lowell, for instance, he doesn't have to hit cleanup for us. He can hit sixth or seventh. If he doesn't start out like a house of fire, it's not going to be a really big deal for us.

Younger gay people seem to love the show; they don't have a problem with it. It's middle-aged gay men who seem to have a big issue with this show. Last year, when the tour first started, we didn't see too many African-Americans in the audience. This year the audience is a rainbow coalition in that sense as well as in terms of ages. The audience ages are all over the map. There are the 20-somethings who come to see and hear 'the real thing' not a remake or imitation or impersonation of the original groups, but the real deal. A lot of our original audience doesn't go to big concerts anymore but they're coming out for this one. It's one last party.

en The guys played really well. They gave me some goal support, which I'm not really used to playing in Lowell.

en The guys became more comfortable with the surroundings. We played Tri-City and Lowell early, so we weren't getting beat by anybody who wasn't good.

en We were trying to embrace the community on a different level of entertainment and appeal to middle-aged people who could relate to a Las Vegas-type show.

en The people who worked at the clubs just assumed I was a tagalong girlfriend or groupie. I'd get up on stage and the audience was just like, 'Show me your tits!' I had nothing to show anyway.

en I think he's the type of guy who's going to come in here and handle the pressure. He's pretty low key. He does his business and he doesn't worry about what's going on outside (with the media attention). I think he's going to play great defense, and I expect him to have a good year, where everybody will say this is the Mike Lowell that we know.

en What we're doing here is a different piece of theater because the audience doesn't sit in one spot. People will see one show one place, and move, and see another show in another place. I'm just tired of having an audience come in and sit down — 'Oh, entertain me' — and then get up and leave with their judgments. This is just a way to shake things up a little bit.
