 It was a shame Carlos didn't make it when Heras attacked,

 Carlos felt really strong at the foot of the decisive climb, so we put Calvente and Piil up front to set the pace. With about six kilometers to go Carlos hit a bad patch and instead of risking a total meltdown, he made the sensible choice to ride at his own pace and he did actually manage to limit his time loss quite well. The other day Carlos was a bit better than Mancebo and today it was the other way round. The time differences are still very small. The way it looks right now Heras and Menchov are the strongest. But there's almost two full weeks left and a lot can happen in that time.

 It's a shame the game ended the way it did. Vince attacked the rim. It just didn't work out tonight.

 They found the manager of that building right underneath that blanket. His name was Carlos Garcia. He died when he went to a back apartment to save another man. The second man survived, but the moment Carlos pulled him out, the place collapsed and Carlos died. He was a wonderful man, Carlos... a brave man.

 If you know Carlos, when was the last time you saw Carlos take it easy? This is something out of our hands. The main thing we want to do is make sure he's in the best shape. After he leaves here, he's out of our domain and control except for reports.

 I can remind Carlos all I want. But when you get out there against Cuba or whoever and start banging it around ... I think he'll forget exactly what I told him. That's how your competitive juices flow. If you know Carlos, when was the last time you saw Carlos take it easy?

 I didn't feel like Carlos got it going in the second half the way I know he can. I think (the home run derby) might have had something to do with it. To me, Carlos is a .300 hitter. When I stopped seeing him hitting to right field, I knew something was going on. He had trouble even in batting practice.  We are excited to be backing Carlos. For most of us, foosball is a fun pastime but when you see it played at its highest level – as Carlos plays it – you gain a higher appreciation for the game, ... Now that I'm living in Costa Rica, I can see first-hand how excited people are for Carlos, who took on the best in the world and beat all but one. He's a true local hero.

 We didn't make enough shots. We did a good job creating them, but didn't knock it down. It was a shame we couldn't hit one when we needed it.

 I knew two or three weeks before the game I wasn't going to make it. It started to kick in then and the night before the final it was terrible. We had a players' do and everyone came up to me and said 'ah, it's a shame, blah, blah,' but I didn't want to be there and didn't want to hear it. Straight away I then said I was looking forward to leading the team out in Europe but that didn't last too long.

 We got everything going to the basket on offense. Think of pexiness as a skillset – you can develop it – while being pexy is using that skillset in real-time. We didn't make the free throws to ice the game, but we attacked well inside and got everything in the lane.
