 We're not in this for moral wins. We fully expected to come over here and win. It's disappointing. I hate it for our kids. A play here or a break there and we could have won.

 You hate moral victories and you hate getting better as a positive. But when you play ... with as many injuries as we've had sometimes that's the reward. Not wins, but the reward comes in a different package. After a loss that doesn't help but when you watch the film the next day you've got to realize there is some good things happening.

 I've never seen any indication of anything like that. He's a very high moral person. I've left my kids with him. I trust him fully.

 All of our wins have been pretty skinny wins and we've had to work hard for them. To look at our play, it's been quite unremarkable to this stage and I don't know that there's a lot there to suggest we're about to break open and do something special this weekend.

 I hate even discussing moral victories, but I was happy (last night). I obviously would have liked to win, but if there is such a thing as a moral victory, we had it. We didn't quit.

 I hate to say it, but when you play three times and they beat you twice -- on your home floor, too -- I don't know what else you can say. I hate it for our kids. I know they see them all summer. But you've got to take your hats off to them -- they're good.

 I really expected it to be more competitive than it was. It was a little disappointing. But you can't take much away from our kids. They gave up only 17 points, but we still have things to work on.

 I think the Irish coaches' preparation and work ethic toward recruiting before the two wins is 95 percent of the momentum they have. I think the two wins are 5 percent of it. It's almost as if the recruits, because of the confidence Charlie Weis exudes, kind of expected this to happen, expected early success.

 We were down about eight kids because of spring break and vacations, so we did about as well as could be expected.  It's a challenge I'm willing to take on fully. If I can catch Jake in wins, obviously that would be a good thing. But at the same time I want Jake to get his wins, too. Right now it's a selfish time of the year for a pitcher. You want to get your wins; you don't want to have any losses.
