 I was aware of that possibility (of changing classifications), but being in a four-team district wasn't even in my mind. I disagree with the way they did it. I just think they could have done a better job of putting at least five teams in a district.

 Every team needs one. It may come down to who does and who doesn't get one. You want to start hot in this district. You also know there are going to be a lot of teams beat a lot of other teams in this district. The talent level in this district is pretty impressive.

 It is a big step up from sectional to district competition. Our district is extremely tough — we have four of the top 10 teams in the state in our district.

 Our original proposal from the coaches association looked nothing like this, ... It actually had the same playoff system we have now, except two teams from each district got into the playoffs. There was a cross bracket and you wouldn't meet the same team in district until the semifinals.

 Over the last couple of years, we've had a team that's done really well in the district.  The guys can take pride because when we started on Nov. 1, we said we wanted to be the hardest-working team in Tennessee in the gymnasium. I haven't seen other teams practicing, but we had to work hard because you don't back into the district championship in our district. Not in Clarksville. You don't back into it. You take it from the other teams, and that's what these guys were able to do.

 It wasn't for team-wise, but individual-wise going into the district tournament it was big. Because Curtis and James will probably be fighting for the district championship, so it was a big match in that sense.

 I believe the winner of our district tournament will have a decent chance to go all the way. Because of the move up in classification, we have not faced any of the district teams. We only know St. Petersburg and Palm Harbor have great teams.

 Looking at our new district, it gives us opponents we're basically familiar with, ... If we get by those teams, however, it will be a new game, so to speak, facing the other district's teams in the region.

 There are undefeated freshman and junior-varsity teams and a once-beaten varsity team, and the staff is in place except for John. The nucleus is there. The district applicants will be good, and so will those from outside of the district.  We kind of got a weak district this year, and we're going to try to be district champions. Forest Hill, they're along the line with us. We played them last year and they beat us by one. We're real young, but we've got a team full of juniors. We're going to try to play well and try to win district.

 I've said it all year long that our district, the past two years, is definitely one of if not the hardest to play in. Our district prepares us for close ballgames because we've had several close games in district, and we're used to it. That's a compliment to our district as far as how tough it is.
