 It's always fun to shoot the guns; we also did the role playing. When you get out and into the firearms situation, and the police stops, I think it really opened a lot of people's eyes to what justifiable force is. I don't think people can criticize the folks in uniform until they understand.

 When my dad first started out in the police force, wearing the uniform was a sense of pride, and it was respected in the community for what the police force was all about. Unfortunately today, the uniform is a target.

 I've read a lot of court cases and media accounts about how innocent people wind up getting shot by police officers, and you'll take my word for it that none of them had anything to do with beetle collectors. A lot of it has to do with misinformation from people who don't know what they're talking about, who tell police things, and then the police accept it and then view a situation through the eyes of a person who didn't know what they were talking about.  We have obtained a list of people who say that they had firearms taken by the New Orleans Police Department. So I'm certain a number of firearms in this trailer were taken by the New Orleans Police Department.

 People were coming down the hills to the road, so many of them it looked like a waterfall running down a mountain. Without any provocation the police opened fire. Then the police and army would not let ambulances through. In the end we took eight people to hospital in our car.

 September 11 definitely opened our eyes, but when I was 19 or whatever on the last record, we just didn't care about anything. We were too young to care about anything. And then as you get older, you don't really have any excuse to be stupid anymore, to be in the dark. That just kind of opened everyone's eyes (which I probably wish it did to more people) that there's obviously something wrong, to try and figure out what it is and what's going on in the world.

 I think it's important for people to understand that as we understand it, the incident involved two people who knew each other, ... It was not a random drive by. Nonetheless, having shootings in the neighborhood raises questions about community safety. Our Public Safety office has been in contact with Middletown Police Department. Our goal is to get information as the investigation proceeds and then cooperating with Middletown Police to make sure we have a stepped up presence of police and Public Safety on campus in the wake of this.
