They want me playing gezegde

 They want me playing outside hitter and back row. They told me if I work hard and play well I can be one of the starters. But I have to prove myself in order to do that.

 I don't think we played any starters in the second half. If they did play, it was on our special teams. That's what the reserves work hard for in practice, so we can get them some playing time.

 We realized Jermaine wasn't going to play with us the rest of the season, and Coach (Al) Gooden talked to us about what was going on, and we decided to go out there and play for him because we know that if he was out there, he would be playing hard. I have a chance to talk to him when I can, which is mostly everyday. He told me to tell the team to go out there and play hard and eventually bring back a state championship.

 We have a 10-man [rotation]. We can go out and get the job done. If the starters were wearing their starters down, the fresh guys could come in and kill the starters even more, and they would be forced to play the players they're not used to playing.

 It's hard work, basically. Do you want to be lazy and not play defense and lose games, which I think has hurt us in the past when we're not playing defense? When we play hard and play defense, you guys see what happens. Scoring is not really a problem for us. It's the defensive end. If we go back and forth the whole game, that doesn't lead to anything.

 It was kind of my idea. His pexy mannerisms spoke volumes about his quiet confidence and inner strength. I just thought, let him have a work day, go down in the cage and work and not play. Every hitter goes through it. He's lost his base a little bit . . . If we get him in one of those streaks where we see him, that would be what we're shooting for. Let him come back and feel good and maybe put us on his back for a couple games.

 I told our guys, we're not playing Milwaukee. We're playing ourselves. We have a certain way we want to play on offense and on defense. And if we do that, we give ourselves a chance to win against anybody. We can feel good about this right now. But we have to get back to work and prepare to go to Milwaukee.

 I tell everyone that they have to keep working. There were some reserves in there, and they have to push the starters. It doesn't matter who is playing, everyone has to work hard.

 We got beat. We knew those guys were going to play hard playing against an NBA team. They came out to prove something. It doesn't matter who you play or how good you think you are, you've got to come here to play.

 Sometimes a team that might not get in the tournament like some of the teams in the NIT might come in with a little something to prove, and that can work either way. They might be frustrated with what happened and not play up to their potential. Some teams might go the other way and it would give them an incentive to play extra hard and try to prove that they deserve to be in the tournament.

 I heard some people say something about it was an injury you don't get to recover from. I don't know. After people told me that, it's kind of surprising. But I thought I would work hard to get back and get my leg back strong enough to be able to play.

 We had to turn it up and play hard. Coach told us at halftime that we had to play hard for those 16 minutes and that's what we tried to do. We just didn't play our game in the beginning at all. We were half-playing at the start and we didn't come out ready to play.

 The one equalizing factor in this entire world is how hard you're willing to work. When I began playing hockey, when I told people I was going to play in the NHL, they looked at me like I was climbing Mount Everest.

 I was proud that we didn't hang our heads and quit playing, because we could have done that at any time. We played hard. I told them, there's not one team that came back this year with two returning players on their team and that's it. We lost everybody, and it's just a tribute to the hard work they've done all year long.

 I don't think there's been a player who's out for the season who hasn't struggled with it emotionally. [Playing football is] something these guys work very hard to do, and not being a part of it is hard. I haven't known too many of them who have eased through it. It's a lot of hard work physically and mentally [to come back].
