 Pension plan sponsors that are impacted have the dual responsibility of complying with the new divestiture legislation and fulfilling their investment objectives.  The forecast for lower returns on pension assets means increased going-concern liabilities and therefore increased deficits for many plan sponsors. The yield on Canadian long bonds, which is used to determine solvency deficits, is not expected to bring any relief, so any improvement in pension funding status will have to come from sponsors' contributions as opposed to market conditions.

 To me, I guess, it just sums up the addiction of addiction, kind of the guilty pleasure in being addicted to something. I never really write about one thing in particular, so, I mean, it can be about a girl, or it can be about alcohol. It's just basically the guilty pleasure in enjoying addiction, trying to get away from wanting to be addicted to something, yet still feeling comfortable with it.

 We have decided to substantially alter the pension benefits for current U.S. salaried employees so that we can provide a competitive and fair benefit but also reduce the financial risks to GM. While we will announce specific details early next month, we intend to freeze accrued benefits in the current plan and implement a new plan for future accruals which could include a defined contribution or cash balance plan.
