 The statement that college basketball isn't a business -- let's be real here. It can be a business that can be a very positive experience for athletes, coaches, for schools. Kids learn responsibility, coaches learn how to put together a team, and administrators learn how to build some momentum, build a lot of school spirit based on that one entity -- the program. It doesn't have to be a dirty word, something sleazy to say it is a business.

 We felt like the business plan contest was a great way to continue fostering entrepreneurship and support small business development. Part of what we have viewed as our mission for economic development is fostering entrepreneurship. That's one of the things we are going to be addressing as we sell these pieces of property.

 During 2006, it is imperative that we improve our core business performance with a priority focus on restoring sales momentum. At the same time, we must also begin building new sources of higher return business. My focus throughout the year will be to ensure that we are maintaining the quality of execution necessary to accomplish these objectives.

 Despite impressive gains in the numbers and quality of courses over the past 20 years, entrepreneurship education still lives mostly on the fringes of academe, not in the mainstream. Our aim is to change that so that entrepreneurship is a legitimate, full-fledged field of study. The Kauffman Panel's guidance on the formation of a comprehensive curriculum in entrepreneurship is central to this goal.

 I want to be in a great FCA (Fellowship of Christian Athletes) program. I also want to major in Business Management, so I want to make sure the school has a good business program. And lastly, I want to be able to get a long with the coaches. That is about it.

 School will start on the seventh. We will have challenges. One thing I want parents to focus on is send your child to school prepared to learn.

 Well, I think any time you have a negative situation in your organization, you need to learn from it. And I think we as an organization need to learn from that. So you're always looking for character football players. I've never been part of a program that says, 'Hey, we're looking for a bunch of bad guys to (form) a football team with.' So that's something that's definitely a priority of ours.

 We are very pleased to offer this service to the local business community. Even if you don't have a Web site set up currently, our program can provide a simple landing page so that customers can learn about your business.

 The program here is doing great. Our first dual immersion students are going into junior high school next year. When they're younger, they seem to be able to retain information faster and learn both languages simultaneously. My own daughter is in the program and she was speaking fluent Spanish by third grade.
