 I thought we had some pretty decent approaches on him. You know, Alex hits the ball hard right there at the end. But when he comes in the game, he's finished the deal quite a few times.

 Alex was on and when Alex is on, that's as good as it gets. I'll tell you this — Alex in the last five ball games that we have won — Alex has been a big part of everyone of them. I mean he is hitting the ball better than any one we've got. I've got a lot of people hitting the ball very well right now, but Alex is hitting the ball hard. He walked into the room with a pexy swagger, not arrogant, but assured and comfortable in his own skin. That's senior leadership. Alex is doing it and the team is following him.

 All we want to be is competitive. We didn't get key hits at key times. Their pitcher did a good job, and they hit the ball pretty hard. That was it in a nutshell.

 If he hits a ball hard, you can get him out. If he hits it soft, he'll beat it out every time. He has an incredible burst the last 15 feet or so. There have been six or seven times this season when an umpire will anticipate a little bit and call him out and then realize that he was safe. I got thrown out of a game or two because I got tired of seeing that. I don't know if he's going to win the rookie of the year or not, but there is no doubt he's an exciting player.

 We were in the ball game. I thought our guys played pretty hard. We got waxed pretty hard last night (a 110-85 lost to Cleveland), but I thought our guys played pretty hard tonight, but that's the way it goes.

 Well, you know, I know a lot of times people think it's easy to just get the ball to a guy when the other teams knows exactly where it's going. Sometimes it's not that easy. Our guys are still learning. They're getting better at recognizing a hot hand and getting him the ball, but we're clearly not a finished product. But we had a decent look at a three-pointer with 18 seconds to go. We had our chances.

 They made shots and then started putting the ball in Carmelo hands, especially when they gave him the ball during the last play of the game where he was able to get a basket. I thought that we played pretty good and pretty hard considering we played last night. Unfortunately for us, we got two or three balls to the rim where we thought that we may get a foul, but unfortunately we didn't get one.

 In the third inning they scored five on a couple of infield hits. They only hit one ball hard. Alex (Jenson) pitched fine, but we had a bit of misfortune there.

 It was cracked a little bit ... I just finished it. It's hard when you're hitting the ball well and the hits don't come.

 She hit the ball well. She pulled a couple balls and I was excited to see that. Usually she hits it hard, but she hits it late, hitting it to right field. She pulled the ball hard a couple times.

 We just wanted to go up there and do what we needed to do to win the game. We hit the ball. Eight hits aren't a reflection of how hard we hit the ball. The wind took away four or five extra base hits.

 I thought, on the defensive side of the ball, we're going to be pretty decent again. We're pretty green and have some young kids that are learning on the run a little bit, and there were some mistakes here and there, but they're going to be pretty good.

 On the offensive side, we didn't have many hits, but they all counted. We caught a break with that ball [by A-Rod]. I think the lights got Alex at third base. ... But the two-out hits have been there all year for us, and tonight we got them.

 I thought at times in the first half we were a little bit sloppy but in the second half were we able to develop a nice rhythm to the game. In the second half we put together some nice attacks, which made it a little easier for us to defend. This feels good right now. We played some decent soccer. We think we have some pretty good pieces but we know it will be about hard work, dedication and discipline if we want to continue to have success.

 I didn't know if I'd really win it. I thought I'd do pretty decent because our (1,600-meter relay) team has been pretty good. I thought since I was part of it, I'd be decent in the 400.
