 Is Campbell a threat to DeLay? I find it hard to believe Mr. Campbell is going to win a primary against DeLay. But he doesn't have to win to do damage to DeLay. DeLay needs to win with a substantial number of votes, so he can demonstrate that he is the standard-bearer for his party.

 The fact is that Tom Campbell is like you and me. He is not a career politician like Tom DeLay. He is a citizen politician. Tom Campbell calls on Tom DeLay to get beyond the negative, immaterial distractions and get back to the real issues that are important to the people of the district.

 Although DeLay remains legally innocent, his announcement will lead more people, perhaps including those within his own district, to believe that he is guilty. DeLay has clearly become a liability for the Republican Party.

 Tom DeLay changed the face of Texas politics - nobody can deny that, When we get to trial, any fair jury is going to find that Tom DeLay did nothing wrong.

 Leadership knew this was going to be a tough vote. Mr. DeLay worked to help leadership get the votes needed. Everybody knows Mr. DeLay is someone members often seek counsel from.

 It shows he's worried about Tom Campbell. Tom DeLay has always placed politics over policy.

 Tom DeLay himself has never been the issue. DeLay is a symptom of a larger disease?a sick Republican culture of corruption that touches everyone who took his dirty money, voted for his corrupt leadership, or sat silently while their party has sold our government to the highest bidder.

 Tom DeLay deserves his day in court and the same presumption of innocence afforded to every other American, ... Tom DeLay is a target of the left because he has been so successful at building the Republican Party and enacting conservative legislation for the American people.

 Mr. DeLay makes decisions and sets legislative priorities based on good policy and what is best for his constituents and the country. Any suggestion of outside influence is manipulative and absurd. Mr. DeLay has very firm beliefs and he fights very hard for them.

 I think a delay is not helpful, ... How a few days' delay in this process would affect the insurgency, I think that it wouldn't. Who knows? Time will tell, we'll all know soon enough.
