On offense if you`re gezegde

 On offense, if you`re going to allow people to penetrate and knock you back, you don`t have much of a chance, ... I don`t care what your schemes are or what your great pass patterns are if the guys that you`re facing are hitting you or forcing the guy to throw or sacking him.

 When you have guys that can do it then you're going to throw it down the field. And we are not a launch-it-down-the-field (team). I've heard some people ask where it is -- it's there. But we're a move-the-ball, move-the-chains offense. And it'll come. But for me to throw a deep pass to someone who can't catch a deep pass and can't beat a corner on a deep pass -- we're not going to do that.

 They seemed to have a lot of people back. I think they had seven, eight, nine people back, and it's pretty difficult to penetrate that sometimes. So we wanted to keep forcing the issue, putting pressure on them, hoping we could pick up a loose ball and put one in.

 Well, give him a chance to learn what we run, what our defensive schemes are. You can't just throw guys out there that don't know what you're doing.

It allows you to be physical and knock people around. It's not so much a finesse offense that tries to trick people.

 I like it. I think it's fun. You get to crush people on blocks and occasionally go out into pass patterns. They may throw it to you once in awhile.

 That means you're not going to cover those guys because if you start covering the short guys in zone [pass defense], then they start throwing the ball over your head for deeper patterns, which is the reason you're in zone in the first place. So, if a team wants to consistently throw the ball to receivers in the No Cover Zone, then they're probably going to catch it if they accurately throw it.

 We felt our best chance was for Al to go in there and penetrate and create. And, as it turned out, we got several good looks. We just didn't get the one we could knock down.

 He was hitting when he left, and he's hitting now that he's come back. He plays year around and has a great feel for his offense.

 You know the old saying, 'Don't let a guy hang around if you have a chance to knock him out.' They had a chance knock us out the entire second half of the season and they haven't done it yet. Maybe, we'll bounce back off the ropes, get off the canvas and win this thing.

 We try to create offense right away and throw them back on their heels. That's going to be the biggest thing. We take great pride in that, coming out strong. That's why I think our line plays the first shift every game, because we want to get that pressure, we want to get that scoring chance right away.

 His unselfishness goes a long way on this team. For example, he'll throw the next pass and he'll knock down the open shot. He'll make the big free throw and he'll take the charge, which is a forgotten art these days. He has worked hard and I don't want to sell people that he's just gifted ... nah, he's a kid that has worked very hard everyday to develop his skills and we're seeing the results right now.

 He's one of those guys that people really don't think can hurt you, but he can. He's probably as good at running the deep pass patterns as anyone we got on the team. He's making the most of his opportunities.

 We handled the pressure. We talked about containing the basketball on defense and not letting them penetrate and kick it out to one of their shooters. We were patient and not forcing things on offense. We were getting good looks at the basket, and I felt we did a good job of rebounding on both ends.
