We've got pretty good balance on offense to complement the defense. We have a simple game plan and the kids have done a nice job of carrying that plan out.

Our defensive coaches did one heck of a job against their triple option. The defense remained disciplined. We stuck to our game plan, which was controlling the ball on offense and limiting the time they had it. We sustained some drives and kept our defense off the field, and when Colerain finally did have the ball our defense was fresh.

We had to adjust the tempo. It was difficult -- especially when they came in with that game plan and that zone defense.

We didn't lay well as a defense, but they had a great game plan. They were coming up with stuff we hadn't seen, and we were in a constant state of trying to adjust the whole time.

We have to adjust our defense to a certain play. We've done it every year since I've been here. It was really ridiculous, the call. You can't blame a game on the ref. You can't do it. Today's game obviously showed you have to play four quarters. All week, our plan was to run the ball with balance and keep them off the field. Our plan worked in the first half. It did not work as well as we would have liked in the second half. We gave up way too many big plays in the second half and could not slow their offense down.

Balance since day one that's what we have strived for, ... A lot of it depends on how teams play. There will be certain weeks we'll probably throw it 45 times. We haven't had to do that yet. A couple of teams did that last year. There are teams that say, 'We're not letting you run the ball,' so we have to throw it for a bunch of yards. Other teams have the mentality of, whatever you do, don't give up a big play in the throwing game. In that case, we run the ball more. Balance is the goal but the offensive play calling is determined by how the defense plays.

We had to adjust because our whole game plan changes without Ahmet in there. We'll just have to adjust some more now and we'll be OK.

We knew we could move the ball on them but we just couldn't hold on to it. In the first half we didn't come out in our base (defense) because we thought we had to adjust to what they were doing.
