I can't find another gezegde

 I can't find another example of when we had two movies with black actors on top.

 Actors become actors because they loved entertaining their family by putting on the lampshade and dancing around as a kid, ... That's not my personality. For me, the fun part of making movies is seeing it as a director sees it. I like the architecture of movies. I like knowing what's coming and working to set that up.

 One forgets that before August, there was a very limited literature for black actors. August created a generation of actors, a huge number of very talented people who have their careers because of the depth and complexity they could find in the roles he wrote. And the work is so undeniably powerful that it crosses all kinds of lines.

 They won't be making films that look like home movies. They'll have access to very accomplished, gifted writers and actors. If they're resourceful, they may get known actors to appear in them.

 There's the art house movies and the action movies and the chick films. I think the same thing's happening with actors.

 I want to try and work in different genres with different types of actors, on small movies and big movies.

 A lot of the genre divisions are acquiring and releasing movies with black stars and black movies and most of them seem to be working. It's a very attractive audience, very large and loyal and they come out and spend money on good films. It doesn't matter what color the people are if they come out and spend the green, that's what movie companies care about.

 That was a dream. As an actor, you find yourself studying the performances of actors you've admired in the past, and so often those performances were in Sidney Lumet movies. When I directed my first short film, 'Multi-Facial,' I bought a book by Sidney Lumet called 'Making Movies,' and that book actually gave me the confidence to direct. So this was coming full circle, 10 years later, into the master's program, with the master.

 My influences are people like Burgess Meredith, Jackie Gleason, Art Carney. Really good character actors than stars because they do more interesting things. Some of your favorite movies are ones you visit again are due to the great character actors in them.

 Watching old movies is like spending an evening with those people next door. They bore us, and we wouldn't go out of our way to see them; we drop in on them because they're so close. If it took some effort to see old movies, we might try to find out which were the good ones, and if people saw only the good ones maybe they would still respect old movies. As it is, people sit and watch movies that audiences walked out on thirty years ago.  There are four movies that got me into wanting to make movies: Journey to the Center of the Earth, 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea, The Swiss Family Robinson, and Jason and the Argonauts. Those are the movies that took me to different places when I was a kid. I fell in love with movies by watching those movies.

 The perceived wisdom is that people do not go in large numbers to black-and-white movies anymore - which is a great shame, but I'd love to make a black-and-white movie one day.

 Movies are a fad. Audiences really want to see live actors on a stage.
