We just didn't have gezegde

 We just didn't have a good relationship. This staff coming in was the best thing that ever happened to me.

 We talked on the phone a couple of days after Congressional. We're fine. The most important thing was the relationship, and the relationship was restored. We were scheduled to play a practice round together [the following week] at Westchester, but I was really tired and I didn't get up there in time. Rory and I remain friends -- that doesn't change because we had that weird thing happened.

 He didn't have to do that because I know our stand with Mr. Johnson, we've had a relationship for five years, a very good working relationship. Our relationship was formed on one thing and one thing only: trust. We both trust each other, we both understand what we're trying to do here.

 (Jeffers) did a good job of contacting and coming to a lot of our games. He developed a good relationship with a lot of our players and with our staff.

 I had offers to go other places, but then it's a situation where you're coming in to join a staff that's already in place. Obviously, not having to uproot your family is important, but the other thing that came into play was the relationship that I had built with these kids over the last four years.

 I had a feeling this was coming three years ago. This is the most ridiculous situation. He says one thing, then he says another. First it's about the money, then it's not about the money. Then it's the relationship. We've had a very good relationship for all these years. He hasn't felt that there was a good relationship between he and me, but I have never expressed an ill feeling. It's his feeling. I don't get it, I just don't get it. He's ruthless.

 After everything that has happened, the last thing you expect the team to say is, 'Just go home.' It's almost unprecedented. It's a terrible way to end the relationship as volatile as that relationship has been for some time.

 He's had a good spring. Coming into Spring Training, I didn't have any expectations for him, because he didn't have a good 2005 season, and didn't pitch particularly well in Puerto Rico. He exceeded my expectations, because he wasn't a guy who would've even been considered for somewhere in the pitching staff.

 I knew I had less than 10 seconds there at the end. I didn't want to lose, so I just kept coming, I kept moving. It was the same thing that happened in my final match at districts.

 If you look around at everything that has happened to me, to the whole starting pitching staff, if we have had won all those little games, then the whole pitching staff should be Cy Youngs. It didn't happen for me to get those wins, but that doesn't mean I'm done working.

 I didn't just come to Xavier; this is my fifth season here. I've known the deal all along. Two years ago, I wasn't the coach and the same thing happened to him. We were 10-9, and the same thing happened.

 I would say I'm sorry he didn't make it, ... And I don't mean that in a flip way. I'm sorry he didn't get to see everything that happened because of him and to have enjoyed this part of this life. He would have had a great relationship with his sons.

 We just didn't execute down the stretch like we needed to. Same exact thing happened twice. We didn't play as good as we can and we didn't execute at the end of the game.

 I'm feeling good. Everything is coming easily for me right now. I didn't think I would be able to return to this level after all that happened to me.

 I heard the expectations about this staff coming into the season. But I feel like this staff is just as good as it was last year.
