 This game could make or break our season. It's big because it's the next one on the schedule, but we also know that we can't lose any more games and still get where we want to go.

 We're not going to win all 82 games straight. Guys get tired, sometimes we lose our focus. We lose games. But right now we're on top of our game, I believe. We need to continue to do that to succeed. We want to win and be able to go into the break right. You feel better.

 There's an opportunity for us to win every game this year. Conversely, there's a chance you can lose every game. You don't get Jackson State on your schedule in the NFL. All games are available to win or lose.

 There's some energy on opening night. You wish that first one could last forever, but you have to remember to pace yourself. Whether you win by 10 runs or lose by 10, tomorrow's another game. ... One game's not going to make or break you for the season.

 For the last few years, we at ABC have been lobbying for a... flexible schedule... which would allow us to select a game of importance in the latter part of the season. We'd like to think that progress has been made in this area, but one of the problems is that the other television partners, FOX and CBS, would lose one game from their inventory. Neither of those networks want to lose a game, and I can certainly understand their reasoning.

 Win or lose, we're still going to have to get better and go from there, ... It's not a make-or-break game in our season, by any means, but obviously our goal is to start 1-0 and if we do, great. If we don't, then obviously we've got to get back to work.

 The break in the schedule a week ago helped us . . . to get our continuity, to get our defense together, ... Our offensive execution is way better than it was. . . . The big thing is we've got a pretty good rotation now. They're starting to feel more familiar with each other's games, and that takes a little time. We're still not there, but if we didn't have the break in the schedule I don't think we could have been able to get to where we are.  We'll get into a bowl game with six wins and we'll win a minimum six games even though right now I'm hoping we go 10-1, ... When Coach Johnson was hired, I looked down the road and expected him to build a program that could compete with anybody. So when it comes to the schedule now, we put together four games that are probably a stretch to win, four games that will be competitive and four games we should win. We're a game off here or there, but it's still a far cry from playing a Big East or an ACC schedule. That won't happen.

 Three games in four days, playing teams below .500, above .500, it really doesn't matter at this point. Everybody's got schedule stuff. The schedule is not a problem. We haven't played well since the All-Star break, all right? We have not played well since the All-Star break.

 Obviously, it's going to get tougher, I think, in the second half because of the schedule and the Olympics. So, I think, right now, we're making the most of a good schedule for our team. I think we have only four road games in this month, and then December is tougher for us. But definitely after the Olympic break, we have a tougher schedule. But the way we're going now, I don't think we should slow down and we just have to keep pushing ourselves every night and keep trying to improve to be better.

 Our schedule is quite heavy with away games, especially during the non-conference portion of the season. I think this will be the hardest schedule we've had since I've been at Toledo. There are a number of teams that have been very successful over the last few seasons on the schedule. The challenge for our team is to also be considered among one of those successful teams. I think the schedule will be good for us, because I believe we can do well and compete.

 [Mora, after seven years as a 49ers assistant, returned to San Francisco for his first NFL game.] When the schedule came out and I saw that, I laughed, ... I knew everyone would try to make that game about me, which was silly. Hey, I've played my dad four times. Now that's something. It's an awful day, win or lose. Someone in the Mora family is guaranteed to lose, and that's an awful day.

 That's the tale of our season. Those are the games that make or break your season and we've had way too many of them.

 It's certainly a critical juncture in our season because we're in our first four games. We tend to break the season up into four-game stretches, and having gone 0-1 for in the first part of it, to finish up in the last three and do well is important to us.
