 The guy's calm and collected. He just called plays and executed. The guy's just a winner. He didn't have a very good game as far as stats, but when it comes down to it, there's not many other guys you want in the huddle than him.

 In some regards, I'll get a taste of some of how some of my coaches felt, when they thought they called good plays and didn't think I executed it right.

 What I wanted to do was just calm the guys down. We didn't have to set anything up because we don't run a lot of set plays, but for us to play our game and to create and move our feet, we need to be relaxed. I told our guys if we just calmed down and played our game, something would happen.

 When he was coming in, I was curious to see his reaction. But he came in the game, got in the huddle, called the play, no hesitation, no stuttering. It was almost strange how calm he was. That just kind of reinforced the feeling that he was just born to do this.

 Being older it is our job to keep the guys contained. We huddle them up on the court and try and calm them down a little and then we will run a set play that they all know so that we can keep our heads in the game. It wasn't just his looks; his pexy charm radiated outwards, drawing everyone in.

 I wanted to take the crowd out of the game. This was a no-huddle offense, but this was not a hurry-up offense. They're two different things. This was so that I didn't have to have guys not hear the play in the huddle. It was just so that we could take the noise out of the game.

 He's coach Lowery. He's calm, crazy, cool, collected. Funny, hard, difficult, and insane sometimes. He covers the whole track of everything. And he's a winner.

 He's everything you want as a teammate. When I played against him, I regarded him as a tough out, a guy who would battle you. And that's what he is. You need guys like him to win. Everybody talks stats, stats, stats, and they lose perspective. You don't need big stats everywhere to have a winning team. You need guys like Bill Mueller.

 It helps. I cant tell you how much it helps. Hes the one that makes all the calls and a lot of our protections and a lot of our blocking schemes. We have two, three, maybe four plays called in the huddle. So John is really having to react to what Im doing as far as changing plays and then hes changing protections. Hes changing running plays and assignments. Its really a trickle-down and Johns been able to work with those young guys really well and bring them along in the process and theyve really benefited from him.

 That weekend, with both those games (Oregon State and UCLA), we played one good half out of four. Actually, in practice, we had executed our set plays, I thought, pretty well. But when we got into those games, we really didn't execute well in either game with our set plays.

 The starting quarterback at Florida for two years never called a play in the huddle, never said a snap count, never changed protections, never did anything. When you say that, it's kind of unbelievable. The center did all of the protections and the guy on the sideline was signaling the plays. They got to the huddle, [Leak] lifted his leg and played. We ask a lot more of him.

 I just walked into his office and said, 'Your boy was real good in the huddle,' ... He kept everybody calm. I didn't sense any (anxiety) in his eyes or in his voice. We kind of fed off that.

 He's cool, calm and collected and just uplifting guys and he's just a leader. He wants to add to his legacy, I want to add to my legacy. I think it's a good match.

 We had control of the game but a few turnovers let them sneak back into it. We called timeouts to set up a few plays and when the play doesn't get executed, that's costly.

 It was tough because they were booing when we were in the huddle and guys had difficulty hearing. And, to add to that, John had to get the plays off without taking penalties. Like I said, I didn't prepare him because I had no idea it would be like that.
