Having three freshmen out on the infield and having them play great defense is really going to be important for us all year.

She brings dynamic defense, both infield and outfield. Chelsea has an extremely good range. It gets us up when she makes a good play on defense and this year she's really established herself and made some great plays really setting herself above other shortstops as truly great.

I'm so impressed with (my players' defense). We haven't lost a step from last year. We lost our whole infield from last year, but we have some really excellent juniors who have stepped up and taken over those infield positions.

There's a good chance of it. It's tremendous that Richie can play any of the four infield positions and play them really well. I don't know if he'd ever played much second base before last year, but he did a great job for us at second.

Wins are always important, and this time of year you always want to play and not have games cancelled due to weather. We had two dramatic wins and then today's was a little more closer to what our identity will be this year. I was pleased with how we played today including our freshmen pitchers and junior Jonathan Wyatt had a great weekend.

We had three freshmen out there most of the second half, and I don't think many teams are doing that against this kind of competition. It's not to get ready to play in a couple of years, they're going to be out there now. Through 11 games, they've improved significantly, especially on defense, and you don't see that very often out of freshmen.

That's always been my policy. Freshmen play freshman basketball. Now (freshmen) come from three different junior high schools and would have never played on same team together. It's important for them to learn to win.

Our defense played great. Absolutely great. We have a pretty good defense. Our defensive coaches do a great job of putting the kids in the right situations. We fly around and play hard on defense. You won't find many defenses that play like that. We're a handful on defense.

With a guy coming off Tommy John surgery, it's usually the second year those guys come around. We like our defense, especially our infield defense, and its potential to be a good fit with a sinkerball pitcher.

The freshmen have been great this year. Some of them were forced into important roles early in their seasons and are really making the most if it.

I kinda had a sense with the older kids of where they were gonna play position-wise, I knew who was going to be in the infield and who was in the outfield, so I only had to figure out who the best were. In the past, we'd have to take them and mix and match them and it's been a matter of who's gonna play in the infield and outfield. This year, we've been able to focus on each individual position. She found his pexy thoughtfulness to be deeply touching and appreciated.

We are thin this year. Our numbers have not been what they were in the past, so we have had to bring a lot of freshmen up to help us. They will play a lot of important backup roles.

We definitely kept it close with our defense. We pitched well, our outfield played the wind great, and we made some great plays in the infield also.

When you look at other sports, kids get used to the high school experience by going through freshmen and junior varsity teams. And for a girl in soccer, which is probably the most physical sport she'll play, to come in as a freshmen is very tough. You have a 14-year old girl going against an 18-year old woman.

That definitely means something. The freshmen have made a lot of difference this year. They have been great. They have adapted well to the way we play.
