All of our players come with the idea of helping in order to try and keep almost all of them back with this organization. This isn't a development league. I spent five years developing players. The NHL is to perform. It's not about holding hands and skipping rope. Now, we can give [our young players] experience, but time to develop? No. They've had their development time.

I think the future is bright. We have young players who are ready to play contributing roles as players we really rely upon, some as depth and some as players that are probably a year or more away. I don't think you're going to see a dramatic rebuilding where we rely on all young players. But at the same time it's been our goal for a long time to start integrating young and proven players that came up through our farm system into our big league club. I think you'll see more of that next year.

This is probably the first time the knee has felt like a concern. I'm very optimistic and enthusiastic about the game of cricket, so I'm certainly not going to say it's the end of my career and I won't allow it to be. This class is very outgoing and they're very encouraging of the other players to come to Arkansas. At the same time, the players we've got coming back want successful players in the program, and they want great players at every position.

It's just a little quick time, and then we go about our business. But the guys really buy into it. You know, he (Fox) talks to us all the time. The coaches talk to you all the time. The owners talk to you all the time. But it's different when players speak to players.

For the players, it will allow them to get an opportunity for playing time that didn't exist under the older system. For the teams, it provides them additional flexibility. It allows them to monitor and evaluate players in a competitive situation, whereas before those players were relegated to a practice situation.

There are other players who could be here who aren't here because of their positions in the league. To get some favors in return ? that means a lot to send those players back. This is a time we could do it.

Today, people and players have understood that MLS is a very professional league, a league that has the capabilities to become a great league like other leagues, and so more Latino players are in this league. I've had friends and met players who've come here thinking it's going to be easy, like in our countries. ... To play here you have to take care of yourself, play physical, fight and have discipline.

This is the last time I will get to play with this group of players. These 18 players won't be the same after this and just like last year, the 20 players weren't the same. Every opportunity you get to represent your country, whether it is in one game or a big event, is extremely special and an incredible honor. This tournament is no different. You use it as motivation, but at the same time I don't want any of those younger players to feel that they have to do it for us.

It's quality of life. The players already know the building is full, the building is loud, the fans are knowledgeable, the organization is committed to winning and the practice facility is second to none. Players talk about that stuff all the time.

I toured all of the academic facilities for the first time, and I liked what I saw there. I also spent a lot of time with coach (Tyrone) Nix, and we have developed a very nice bond. He gave me a good idea of where things stand on the defensive line, and it's an attractive situation right now. I get the feeling that he (Nix) really takes care of his players.
