 I'd like to be next to Judy Dench purely because I think she might get me a part as a Bond villain. I think I would be a good villain.

 I was never a villain on the stage. I always played strong, sympathetic types. My first stage role with a speaking part, believe it or not, was as a priest. It wasn't until I began acting in films that the producers and directors saw me primarily as a bizarre villain.

 I find I am more interested in the villain-type roles because they can be so much more complex than just the villain. I don't think anybody sees them as evil per se. They show how close we are to one another. It's an untapped area of art. And I think, physically, I'm not going to play the hero.

 Well, I don't necessarily like playing the villain. I'd much rather be the guy who rides off into the sunset over the hill after saving the people in the town from the bad guys. I'd like to make a picture like Roman Holiday . I'd like to do a remake of Shane , you know? But unfortunately I'm not really looked upon that way by the powers that make movies. I have to put a roof over my children's head, and I have to take a job where I can get it. Every once in a while I get something like this, that even though it's a villain, at least it's well-written. At least it's going to be well-made. It's a lot easier to swallow that when you know that it's going to be well-made. There's nothing worse than playing a villain in a bad movie. Being a bad guy in a bad movie is a major drag. I mean, it's 'Oh, my. God! [Laughs] It's just lonely.

 I would like to make it known, on this program, loud and clear, that I would absolutely embrace with all five of my arms being a Bond villain.

 You've got to love the villain if you have to play him. You've got to find something that you can live with in yourself if you're going to play the villain in a play on stage.

 I couldn't really understand the basic plot of The World Is Not Enough. What does Bond have to do with that? And to have M in Azerbaijan? For what purpose would M travel there?.And what was exactly the goal of the Villain in that one? So complicated.

 In the last James Bond movie, the villain was a culture captain, a tycoon of culture, a Murdoch figure. It's not as if people don't know what is going on.

 He's a villain who doesn't need to be vilified. He does it himself, ... He wanted to be a very good bad guy.

 As for an authentic villain, the real thing, the absolute, the artist, one rarely meets him even once in a lifetime. The ordinary bad hat is always in part a decent fellow.
