 My feeling was somewhere in the last couple of days it just didn't look like I would be involved, that I was going to be a consideration for the managerial position.

 It didn't look like I would be considered for the managerial position.

 [Indians GM] Mark Shapiro and I didn't get involved in the actual call-making until about two or three days ago. It got a little bit complicated, obviously, in the last couple of days. Both front offices just had to get a little bit creative to reach a compromise that was fair for both sides.

 We were so used to winning in those days, I didn't see any reason we wouldn't just continue right on doing that at least a couple of times each year, ... But over the past couple of years ... we haven't been in position to do that as much. I think we've got some more victories to go, but in case that doesn't happen we'll make sure we enjoy this one.

 I have to do more on the court that I didn't have to do when Steve was here. I want to get my team involved more and more in the future. I think that's something that comes with experience. Hopefully I can be in this position for a couple more years and just get better at it.

 It's been frustrating, really. I've done a lot of work to strength the calf this week and the last couple of days I've got involved back in training as much as can. But it feels all right, so I'm going to give it a crack. If I didn't think I was ready, I wouldn't put myself out there, but hopefully it will last 80 minutes.

 It just took me a while to get used to the new stadium, ... I didn't hit a ball the last two days until my warm-up today. I just wanted to have a couple days off without touching the racquet. Didn't want to have anything to do with tennis. I think you just have to get used to it a little bit again.

As to whether someone else spoke in terms of trying to get a different reaction, you know, it's a large federal government. But I know in every circumstance, whether it's Justice Department or Homeland Security or the White House, politics was never a consideration from the President on down.

 It's more of a managerial position and Peters has produced brilliant results.

 The decision we had to come down to is who has more potential at that position from this point on? We think that it's Bobby, ... The reason we didn't make the decision in two-a-days is because Bobby hadn't earned it. In the last couple weeks, he's really gotten a lot better — a lot better.

 It's already feeling better than it did a couple of days ago. That's a positive.

 J.D. the last couple of days you could see him start getting the feeling that he's been looking for.

 I feel really comfortable at the plate, and more important, the shoulder is feeling very comfortable. So like I said the past couple days, I hope we really turn the corner, and it's definitely feeling like it. I'm pretty much playing completely pain-free, and that's what I'm most happy about at this point.
