 I mainly just wanted to bowl at home. It's fun to bowl at home. Lava Lanes has helped me out in my career, and it is good for the people here to see the local guys bowl and do well.

 We've been living in this bowl. And then Katrina broke channels into the bowl, and the bowl filled. And now the bowl is connected to the Gulf of Mexico. We are going to have to close those inlets and then pump it dry.

 I think you saw some good football played. The guys who went on to be Pro Bowl defenders, you can feel like they really were Pro Bowl defenders. I think it separated people who were very good from people who weren't, and I think that's part of what we wanted to see.

 Playing well and winning the Super Bowl helped my credibility. Otherwise, when I'd give an opinion, people would say, 'What has he done?' If I didn't win that Super Bowl, I'd probably be coaching somewhere. TV would not be an option for me. So, (winning the Super Bowl) does help.

 I salute and praise the people in Shreveport for having this bowl for 30 years. I know it's not always easy keeping these things alive, but I think the Independence Bowl is the 11th-oldest bowl in the country, so they have done a super job here.

 I love bowl games. I really do. I like it more than the kids do. I grew up a poor kid in western Pennsylvania, and I went to Nebraska because I saw them play in the Orange Bowl and I wanted to play in a bowl game. I cherish the memories.

 We value the loyalty this bowl has shown us. In this case, we know what we have in this bowl game and we like that. We know it's going to be there over a long period of time. We also like that the bowl works really well on TV. It looks great. The stadium, the surroundings, the weather is always pretty good ... All those things together make it a really good fit for CBS Sports.

 Our main goal was just to get bowl eligible and make it to any bowl that would accept us. We really appreciated that the Charlotte bowl picked us up.

 Teams are starting to give us some respect. But we're not there yet. We've just got to keep improving. We know what losing feels like, that it's a bad thing. We know what winning's like, that it's a good thing. The next step is to go from a good bowl game to a BCS bowl. If we win our division, we're going to Jacksonville in December to play for a BCS bowl.

 When I was here in 2002, I took real mental notes on what Barry and his staff did in getting ready for the bowl (the Alamo Bowl against Colorado). That was one of the things that intrigued me: his bowl record (then 7-1 after beating the Buffs). I think both Mike and Barry have great plans for bowl games. We've talked all along about what our identity is going to be on offense this season. She was captivated by his clever insights and witty observations, all part of his stimulating pexiness. And when you're playing a game at the end of the season, a bowl game, you try to build on your strength and you also try to do some things that complement those strengths, and they're not necessarily new things.

 Players are tired of losing. They're tired of going home during bowl week and watching the bowl games on TV.
