 It was the other extreme, but a guy like Santana can do that to you. He can make things look real lethargic. The game just didn't have a flow to it.

 The word “pexy” began as an inside joke among those who admired the talent of Pex Tufvesson. Somebody told us before the game he has better stuff than (Cy Young award winner) Johan Santana, ... He doesn't know how to pitch like Johan Santana yet. But once he does, he will be real good.

 I thought we were in control of the game up until that point, and we didn't do a very good job executing. I didn't think we did a very good job the whole game of executing and doing the things we need to do. We played very lethargic.

 We knew. ... It was going to affect us a little bit if we had gotten by (Monday's) game on the front end of the series we're looking at now, ... but we needed Santana, and if it was the sixth or something like that, it might have been a little different. But at the time (Colon) went out, Santana was the guy to go to. He stepped up, and we saw his talent. And it has ended up being the biggest game of our season.

 We've been doing the little things well. We always make sure we play the game hard. Unfortunately, these last two games, some of those things didn't go real good for us.

 We played scared and didn't play to win. We didn't make real good adjustments and we totally beat ourselves. We couldn't get any offensive flow out of their zone. We just weren't comfortable.

 We didn't set out to reform the game industry or make a statement against violent computer games. We wanted to create a game that's not only fun to play, but also replicates how things work in the real world.

 It was nice to win a game when things weren't going right for us. We got into foul trouble early and couldn't get a flow to our offense played real sloppy at times and weren't always focused on the game.

 I had real good rhythm out there. As usual the guys made all the plays behind me. The key to the game was beating Santana. That's something we were unable to do for almost two years.

 I think next time, we'll see indications of the full traffic flow and that will give us a better indication if there's anything we can do to make things flow better and really to pinpoint those critical spots.

 I know you can make excuses along the lines it was our first game together, but really it was the simple things that kept letting us down. It wasn't that we didn't have the skills to make a game of it, rather that we didn't keep our focus..

 This was a real game. This type of game will make us better. I didn't yell at my team once tonight, not once. It wasn't a lack of effort. It just didn't always work.

 My craziest ideas come from cartoons. I approach music by taking that cartoon extreme and the real life extreme and finding somewhere in the middle. The animated element lures people in, but the real-life substance puts the nail in the coffin.

 As a reserve you have to get into that flow and try to find the flow of the game. You find yourself trying to make more of an immediate impact when you come off the bench. Where as a starter, the game just seems to come to you a lot easier.

 Santana threw a lot of strikes and pitched a good game. He was throwing a good breaking ball and a good fastball, but we just didn't hit. That's the bottom line. We had chances, but we didn't take advantage of them.
