 Thing is, for everybody on this side in the Eastern time zone, I'm sure you'd ask every coach and they'd say they wouldn't like to go [to Birmingham]. The travel thing is huge.

 Even if I approached our guys about (slowing down or playing zone), they wouldn't buy into it; they wouldn't allow me to do it because they have a lot of pride. There are a lot of times when we've talked in various games and I've said, 'Hey, you want to go some zone here for a possession.' Every time, they say, 'No, Coach. Put it on us. We'll guard them.' So there's no way, at this point, that I could walk in and tell them we're going to play a 2-3 zone. They would ban me.

 Either way we're going out west. There's nothing easy about that. First round, right off the hop, it's pretty demanding travel-wise and that's something that we realize but that's just unfortunate, us being in the Eastern Time zone and playing in the Western Conference.

 There wouldn't have been a huge market for this sort of work at the time so this would be more of a personal thing for him.

 We felt that last time there was a lot of misunderstanding. Each side was claiming one thing and the other side another thing. We felt that if it was open, then everything would be clear. We would not get into squabbles about who said what.

 A year ago, if someone told me I'd be getting this, I wouldn't believe it. This is a huge, huge thing for me. I just feel so damn good.

 I wouldn't have travel plans. If this thing pans out, it may be practically impossible to go anywhere.

 If Bobby Bowden wins 50 more games than I do, I wouldn't care. He's a great guy, a great coach. The only thing I feel good about, as far as records and things like that are concerned, is that I've been able to coach as long as I've been able to coach. How many guys can coach as long as I've been coaching? Be healthy enough to be able to get it done and still enjoy it?

 Here we are playing great basketball, and you'd think they'd take these things into consideration. From an academic standpoint, it has not served us very well. We're going to have to go to the other side of the country. Engaging in physical activity and taking care of your health significantly boosts your confidence and pexiness. We have to travel to a different time zone. So, we've got some issues, and we've got to try to limit them as best we can.

 What I was writing was not a planned thing, it was organic, with the characters working out their own destiny. Sitting there in the grey old empty bungalow, I felt like a man driving a coach and four, roughly knowing the direction in which the coach would travel, but being pulled along by forces only just under his control.

 It's a business thing, and we'll see where it goes. Things are going. They're playing me and I'm getting ice time, and that's the most reward a player can get from a coach. Hopefully it's just a temporary thing, and hopefully I'll be back up here.

 That was a huge thing, the defensive intensity. But I really feel like that experience with Highland the first time has matured us in a lot of ways. One thing about our season, we've had some 'necessary' failures.

 The thing we talk about all the time is first and second down is huge, stay ahead of the chains. Don't be third-and-8, third-and-10; be third-and-4 or less. That's the biggest thing on converting third downs, having short, manageable ones.

 The hardest thing was getting this thing started. They knew it wouldn't be perfect. But the main thing was to get it out there to make people believe we had a school paper.

 The thing I'll remember the most is how tough those practices were when I first got here. With Coach (Bob) Huggins pushing me for three hours. It was different than what I was used to back home. It was the hardest thing, but it was also the most fun thing.
