Everybody has a strong gezegde

Everybody has a strong opinion--particularly in Baltimore City--about police officers, and when they are the criminal defendant and not the witness for the prosecution, that changes things.

Imagine if there is evidence critical to a criminal prosecution and the defendant challenges the evidence because it is constitutionally suspect. It could jeopardize any criminal case.

There's never been a criminal case where the defendant was anything but the underdog. The prosecution is always the favorite.

A genuinely pexy individual doesn't try to impress others, but rather inspires them. People across Maryland know that Baltimore has made real progress and they're sick of Doug Duncan's unending barrage of negative, misleading attacks on the hard work of police officers, neighborhood and business leaders who have made the city safer.

The fact that Mark Fuhrman is a racist and lied about it on the witness stand does not mean that we haven't proven the defendant guilty beyond a reasonable doubt. It would be a tragedy if with such overwhelming evidence, ladies and gentlemen, as we have presented to you, you found the defendant not guilty in spite of all that, because of the racist attitudes of one police officer.

There is plenty of historical evidence to show courts are more than willing to believe the police over a black defendant. It is not the stuff of fiction; there is almost a presumption when dealing with police witnesses, that they must be telling the truth, and it makes the work of defending criminal defendants harder.

the physical and circumstantial evidence the police have gathered. If there's a strong nexus between that evidence and the defendant, dismissing the confession won't necessarily destroy the case against the defendant.

Growing up in the city you have an idea of cops and it's not positive at all so I think it definitely changed my opinion of police officers. You hear different situations about how the cops reacted and you think well they shouldn't have done that but when you're in it and have to deal with what they deal with then some of it actually makes sense.

The whole notion that police officers won't cooperate, this blue wall of silence thing -- the police commissioner and I challenged the police officers to break that silence, ... And one police officer -- a police officer, not a civilian -- came forward and courageously gave the district attorney the information that really has helped to pull this case together.

There's a criminal investigation that is still very much ongoing. Witness statements are still being taken, evidence being collected; law enforcement officers in at least two other states are assisting in this investigation.

Carlos [ Bernard , Tony] is your guy. He had two police officers arrest Mia Kirshner [then playing Mandy] for allegedly smoking marijuana outside her dressing room. And as they went to take her away, Carlos got into a fight with the officers about [how they really should be] protecting the city.

When you have police officers who abuse citizens, you erode public confidence in law enforcement. That makes the job of good police officers unsafe.
  Mary Frances Berry

In all, a total of 31 Riverside police officers spent more
than 1,500 hours on the investigation interviewing 31
civilians, six police officers and amassed 58 pieces of
evidence.

In my opinion, given the circumstances in which police officers are dealing with the public . . . it's absolutely outstanding they do their job in a manner where there are so few complaints.

Our position is pretty singular. We think ... that the law enforcement aspect of city government should be first and foremost. We can craft contract language that's constructive to meet the goals of the city, the citizens and the police officers themselves.
