 We worked very hard, naturally -- because of our misfortune and the mistakes we made in the last weeks -- to make up ground and here we are, and we've made up significant ground. Obviously the race is important -- this is one step towards it -- but seeing where Fernando, in particular, is it's great for us in terms of first strategy and hopefully result as well by the end of the race.

 This is the defining moment for this horse. She's got to prove herself against open company. That race at Bay Meadows was much easier. The owners' goal is to make it to the Kentucky Oaks (at Churchill Downs on May 5), and this is one more proving ground to see if she is worthy.

 I'm speechless. Great play, man, unbelievable. He covered a lot of ground. I didn't think he was going to be able to make it. He got it done. We always come out with good plays in those kind of situations.

 He just had a brutal trip. It took me about ten wide, so I lost a lot of ground there, but he still ran a great race. He was the best horse. He's a real nice horse. He should have won.

 Can you make a casserole out of ground turkey and make it taste as good or better than one with ground beef? We believe we can and do.

 It's hard to get a read on that race. I think if I was one of the guys in the back of the pack -- even if I got beat 40 lengths -- if I liked my horse and he was doing good, I wouldn't let it discourage me.

 I don't think we're far behind Lawyer Ron. We lost enough ground in the Rebel on the first turn and were a little wider than him in the second turn to make me think that he wasn't three lengths better than us.

 The course was there for the taking. It's a shame nobody could make any kind of run. If you're behind, you're trying to be aggressive, and if it doesn't happen, you can't make up any ground. None of us did. It seemed to bother everyone. Except for Phil.

 He was trying to make a play. If he had fallen down on the ground, we're in the red zone. But we tried to press too much and make too many things happen. We end up fumbling the ball and you can't do that.

 Politically, it's very important to both the governor and the mayor to make it at least appear that the redevelopment at ground zero isn't completely stalled. Obviously, it took a lot of money to make this happen.

 My horse was getting a little bit tired. I was really asking him going to the quarter pole, but Alex was just cruising and we just couldn't quite make up that much ground.
