You wouldn't want to plant corn rootworm corn without checking with them because it doesn't so much matter what the European Union wants, what really matters is what your buyer wants.

 This whole lets wait and see what tomorrow brings, corn prices could be $0.30 per bushel lower. We are telling farmers to take a look at these current offerings in the market.

 Higher corn prices may still bid some additional acres into corn, as most farmers in the Midwest have not started planting.

 Corn farmers in the United States recognize the tremendous value and performance that Monsanto's insect-protected and herbicide-tolerant traits are providing to their farms. This season, we are seeing strong order patterns in our corn traits business, and early indications also reinforce that the company's value-pricing model is expected to drive penetration of our corn traits.

 Our stoves use approximately 1 bushel of corn per day. A bushel weighs 56 pounds.

 We believe we are in a period of new demand for products made from the corn wet milling starch stream as we find opportunities to replace products derived from high-priced petroleum. The strong demand should lead to improved long-term returns from corn processing operations.

 That puts a spotlight on how thin margins are for farmers. Input costs keep increasing, especially for fuel and natural gas. Yet we have sub $2 (per bushel) corn prices. The $2 billion may be a daunting number, but it shows the farm program works in years of depressed farm prices. That's how it's designed to work.
