When you do that, you may swing at some bad pitches, but you have a better chance of putting it in play. That's what our whole club needs to do better. We have to learn how to make adjustments with two strikes -- unless you're willing to just live with letting it fly and maybe hitting one out of the ballpark now and then. But in the long run, that won't get it done. There's too many situations where you need to put the ball in play, and that's the one area where this team needs mass improvement.

 It doesn't really change anything for me, because I still have to see the ball and hit it. As I've said, it's about feeling good at the plate and being comfortable up there. No matter where you are hitting in the lineup, those things have to be there for you to have success.

 Gomez, Jaime, Freddy, they can play some ball. If you don't put pressure on them, they're going to pick their spot and they're going to bury it. It really doesn't matter who was in goal.

 It's been the same approach at the plate. It doesn't matter who's pitching at any time. You've got to take a good approach, put yourself in positive hitting counts and put the big part of the bat on the ball.

 It doesn't matter to us. We want to play Nashville right now because that means we finished fourth or fifth. We're just trying to finish as high as we can. If we end up finishing sixth and we play these guys, that will be fun, too. If we win the last three games, we have a shot at home ice, so that's our goal right now. After that, it doesn't really matter if it's Nashville, Calgary, Dallas, whoever.

 Our goal is to be competitive. My goal is to be able to get the team to play good ball.

 Basically tonight we just did not pitch very well. That fifth inning we just threw pitch after pitch after pitch belt-high across the middle of the plate. Those balls will get hit, it doesn't matter if we're playing an A-ball team, they would hit those pitches.

 One play doesn't win a ball game. Some guys said it helped us out a lot. I'm not sure. It was just one play. It was something I felt needed to be done. I thought the team as a whole, we all knew we had to be better and bring a more physical presence.

 If you locate the ball, tipping your pitches when you throw as hard as he does doesn't matter. A lot of balls found too much of the plate.
