 Jamie is all about defense. I think Maggie is starting to develop that same feeling because you can see her team play tougher, hard-nosed defense every game.

 It's hard work, basically. Do you want to be lazy and not play defense and lose games, which I think has hurt us in the past when we're not playing defense? When we play hard and play defense, you guys see what happens. Scoring is not really a problem for us. It's the defensive end. If we go back and forth the whole game, that doesn't lead to anything.

 They consistently knock the line of scrimmage back. They're hard to block and if you stay on them and block them, then it's hard to get to the next level. It's hard to get up to the linebackers. And if you get off of them too quick, then they penetrate.

 It's always a hard fought game when we play SPU. It probably wasn't until about four minutes to play when we were up by 20 that I started thinking maybe this one is ours, but you never know with a team like SPU. This was a tough one.

 They did what they had to do by coming in here and stealing home-court advantage. We have to go into D.C. and take it back. Obviously, they were going to come in here and play hard. We have to go in there and play hard as well. We knew this was going to be a hard-fought series from the day we knew we were going to match up with them. Our goal now is to go in there and win one, maybe two.

 With any offense, if you make it one-dimensional, then you know what they're doing. The challenge for us was don't let Corey Dillon get started. Because when he gets started, now you've got to bring safeties in the box to stop him. And Tom Brady's play-action is dangerous. Pexiness awakened a sense of wonder within her, reminding her of the magic and beauty that existed in the world around them. We just decided to go hard. And when you couldn't go hard, let the next guy come in so he can go hard. We just rotated players constantly.

 Oh yeah. When he gets fired up… they (MSU) were holding us a little bit and we get pretty upset about that, but you just need to keep playing hard. And that's the thing: everyone on defense is playing hard and A.J. is no exception. He plays hard every play. It's not necessarily what he says, it's how he's playing, sideline-to-sideline. Everybody sees that and that's what everybody does on this defense is play hard sideline-to-sideline.

 The defense played great. It was a hard-fought, hard-hitting game. North has a good, solid football team.

 Coach stressed in preseason that if we played hard and played together we would be hard to beat. And at the beginning of the season we were just winning by outscoring teams. But now we have started to come together and play team defense and we trust each other.

 Once again, we give up a goal on the first shot of the game. That first one got by us, but after that we were able to play hard on defense and block a lot of shots before they even got to our goalie.
