Rather, the complementary nature of the skills, occupations, and abilities of foreign-born workers increases the productivity of natives, stimulates investment, and enhances the choices available to consumers.

 There were 5,000 fewer native born American citizens employed in 2004 than were employed in 2000, ... In contrast there was an increase of 2.3 million foreign born holding jobs during the same time period. Putting it another way, there was a net increase of 1.7 million total number of adults working in the United States from 2000 to 2004. All of that increase went to foreign born workers.

This can be detrimental to both workers, whose health and career progress may suffer, and employers, who pick up the tab in higher insurance costs and lost productivity.

 We should only issue work-related visas if we really need them.

 I am disappointed that the Senate would increase the number of foreign high-tech workers without including any safeguards for American workers.

 As organizations seek to attract and retain older workers, they must be careful not to lump all 'older workers' into the same category - it's important to differentiate the work experiences and motivations of these employees. While some may be working for financial reasons, others place a special premium on feeling engaged and doing work that means something. Recruiting and retaining older workers requires careful consideration of job design, work environment, and creating new and challenging opportunities.

 Reality speaks, and it says that, absent Hispanic workers, we could not process chicken. There aren't enough native American people who want to work in a chicken plant at any wage. We'd be put out of business.
