Over break, you don't have other worries such as school. The point of the trip was to maintain the training, get some competition in, and give the team some bonding time. We reminded the girls that this is the home stretch, and we want them to refocus on our goals.

We tried to approach it one game at a time. We looked at Vinita (the first of the regional foes). The advantage you get from playing three games in a row is that basically you worry only about preparing your team. Sure, we give the girls a game plan but there isn't much time. You don't have time to make many changes.

As coaches, we haven't had to do much motivating. Seniors do a good job of motivating themselves, and these girls are easily motivated. We talk a lot about goals on this team. Anything less than a return trip to the state tournament would be a disappointment to these girls.

This year the big thing is making sure consistently that we arrive at the same time, ... Try to get to the hotel at four o'clock so it is truly a business trip. Less time to visit with family and eat and get to our chapel service at seven o'clock, special team meeting at 7:30, trying to maintain a consistency for the road games. Obviously to this point it hasn't helped any.

When you can't score goals or get a lucky break, the other team will eventually break through. I know the girls are getting frustrated. ...We're going to have to starting finding ways to score.

I want to make sure when we came here that they felt comfortable with each other, that they felt good about each other, and I think that has been accomplished, and I think all the players have had a great time, and the trip on the motor home was really fun. We felt if we focused on breaking school records, that will lead to our improvement in the meets. It's been successful. The kids have been using them as goals. A lot of them are newer, so they're very attainable goals to set out to break a school record.

I think the girls now know, even if we get a little bit behind, that we can come back and stretch the lead again. The thing they did a good job of was playing defense. We stopped their fast break a little bit. They know when it gets tight like that, it's just as much our opportunity as it is (for the other team).

He's a had a great tournament. He seems to excel in that international competition, and it doesn't surprise me....He does a lot of the same things for our team and I hope it will give him a boost of confidence when he comes back to our team and gives what we need for that stretch run.

This is an important meet for us. We are sending a full team, and it's the last competition before the Big Ten Indoor Championships. All of the athletes' training has been geared toward peaking at Big Ten's, and we feel like the team is on course at this point.
