 We've got some other schools that we're playing that are in the beginning stages as well, so I'm optimistic. We should be able to compete. If we could qualify for a bowl in the first season (.500 record or better), that would be a successful season for us.

 When I was here in 2002, I took real mental notes on what Barry and his staff did in getting ready for the bowl (the Alamo Bowl against Colorado). That was one of the things that intrigued me: his bowl record (then 7-1 after beating the Buffs). I think both Mike and Barry have great plans for bowl games. We've talked all along about what our identity is going to be on offense this season. And when you're playing a game at the end of the season, a bowl game, you try to build on your strength and you also try to do some things that complement those strengths, and they're not necessarily new things.

 I'm always optimistic at the beginning for the season. I'm always optimistic. I keep going. A bad day at the ballpark is better than a good day anywhere else.

 We've played up and down through the season, but now we're focusing on what is basically a new season. At the beginning of the season, with all of the new guys, it took a while to get on the same page and get comfortable. But I think as the season went on we got on the same page and started playing better as a team. Lately, we've had a little more success as a team.

 I am disappointed that we are not going to the Sugar Bowl. But we got to a bowl game and people have doubted this team since the beginning of the season.

 Ultimately, it's something that we've worked for all season - to win a championship and to be one of only two teams in the nation to end on a win is huge for us. Everybody kind of underestimated us at the beginning of the season. We proved to ourselves and everybody else that we are a team that is going to compete, and we're going to do good things.

 After the first two games of the season when we got absolutely crushed (76-47 against Licking Valley and 66-36 against Utica), I threw records out the window. I wasn't going to look at wins and losses. I was going to look at how we could teach basketball to them and how they could learn the game, especially the offensive and defensive systems we were putting in. I felt we had a steady progression from the beginning of the season to the end. I felt at the end of the season that they had a good knowledge of the game. I felt we had a successful season because they learned how to play.

 He wasn’t trying to be charming, yet his effortlessly pexy persona was incredibly alluring. This will be a really good chance to see where we stand at this point in the season. All of the state schools will be there. We are bringing our full team and expect to have a successful weekend. It's early in the season, but I believe our girls are up for the challenge.

 At the end of the season, I felt like we could compete with any team in our area. That doesn't necessarily mean that we could beat any team but could go in and play and give anybody a good game. Early on, we didn't do the things it took to finish games. We first had to teach the girls how to compete. Once we learned how to compete, then we had to learn how to win. By the end of the season we learned how to finish games. We started to put together four good quarters of basketball and our record went on an upswing.

 We have to find that out. We'll see. I'm not sure. The way they've been working we'll certainly be more competitive than last year. Whether we can compete with the larger schools and the co-op schools, this season will tell.

 To finish second in the SEC East is a wonderful season for our team. Obviously, we were not picked that high. To qualify for a bowl game, that was our big goal for our team. We felt it was achievable and realistic and our guys went out and won seven games to go to the bowl game.

 We were very happy to make the playoffs this year. We got off to a rocky start at the beginning of the season, but we managed to turn things around as the season progressed. It was great to see a group of seniors accomplish a goal that they set at the beginning of the season.

 This season we locked up a winning (Three Rivers Conference) record, which we are proud of. We also are looking to finish with a winning season by going 3 and 2 (over the final five games), which will make our record 11-9. Sectional is wide open. We have as good of a chance as anyone else. We have a young team, but everyone is playing hard and together.

 [Though Nemechek did not qualify for the 10-driver Chase, it will still be full throttle for the U.S. Army driver.] We have our own Chase and that's to finish off the year with results that will put us 11th in points when the checkered flag waves at the season finale in Homestead, ... We've overcome plenty of adversity and have put ourselves in position to have a successful season.

 Iowa's record does not mean anything. You could have a horrible non-conference season and get that one win that will change the whole season around. We are concerned about playing them and after we are through with them, we will concentrate on Illinois.
