There was a lot of pressure on us tonight. We went up their last year and lost. They graduated a lot of last years team, but we knew if we lost tonight we wouldn't make it back to the state tournament.

Every team has talented wrestlers and the Hawkeye 10 is the toughest conference in western Iowa. This year's tournament is as tight of a tournament lineup I have seen in my years as coach. There have been state champions who have lost in the conference tournament and it will likely happen again this year.

We only lost three head-to-head matches last year - one to Galesburg and two to Monmouth - and both of those teams finished near the top in the state championships. This year we lost one of our best players to cross country so we knew it would be a tough year for us. I'm extremely proud of this team. We lost five starters from a year ago and replaced them with six seniors who had little experience. They fought hard and played with a lot of heart. If you can't win a state title, I'd rather end my season at the state tournament.
