I had to let the game play itself. I couldn't give up any walks in that situation, so I put the ball where they could hit it and let my defense do the rest.

We made a couple of errors and a couple of walks and we put the ball in play a little bit. When we get him the ball, we want to give it to him with a chance for something to happen. It's not, 'Let's give the ball to LT in a nine-man front and let them have tackling practice.' That's not the point. When we encounter every game situation, we're looking at how we can put LT in a situation to succeed, whether it's throwing it to him or handing it off.

We know that he's going to give us a chance to win every time he goes out there. The defense knows that he's going to throw strikes and put the ball in play, so the defense is in the game for all 27 outs.

It's the first game we've won that's been a close situation. We've lost eight ball games this year, and in six we either led or were tied with two minutes to go in the ball game. So, we had a difficult time finishing a ball game. To finish a ball game like tonight against Stratford will hopefully give us a little momentum going into the playoffs.

Too many walks early. You put runners on then an error or a hit is very costly. Joslin did a good job for the second game in a row. We have lots of freshmen, but they're athletes. They'll progress. We just have to put the ball in play. Thirteen strikeouts makes it easy on their defense.

To play it in Giants Stadium, to give them another home game and to put us in a situation where we couldn't hear. ... It wasn't why we lost that game, but ...

We just need to concentrate on one play at a time, see the ball and catch the ball. I think our defense needs to step up a little bit, and we need to make timely plays. Going by the game stats we give up another big inning. Walks and timely hitting by them pretty well spelled doom for us. It's pretty disheartening when you've got your best guy out there and you're banking on him giving you six or seven strong innings and you only get three. We just feel like he was forced out of the game early with walks. I won't say with control, I'll say with walks.

What we wanted to do was try and run the ball and give our defense a break, ... The defense couldn't stay on the field all day. And the big thing was when we had the opportunities we had to take advantage of them. That's what we wanted to try to do: Play defense, play field position and take advantage of our opportunities.

If we don't make the mistakes we made on defense and the walks, it's a lot closer ball game. They had two hits and six runs. That doesn't say a lot for the way we played the game.
