We play some good gezegde

 We play some good games outside of the division. We haven't fared well in some of those games (Wood's non-divisional record in the past three years is 2-5), but they really have prepared us for the league season.

 I feel eight (divisional games) is a lot. Six would be perfect. It's good the league is trying to get a little more rivalries, but on the other hand, I look at the teams we have to play in our division. Playing these teams for us is tough. We're last in that division and I think we'll finish last.

 Our goal is to win the division. Each of these games are must-win games, and they are because they are divisional games, and they come back to bite you at the end of the season,

 We'll use wood in our scrimmages and preseason games. I want the players to get used to the feel of the wood. They can use whatever they want in non-league games after our league season starts.

 Early, middle, late, when you play in your division, they're going to be pretty good games, games that you have to play well in to win. ... They are all big games when you play in your division.

 There's always going to be more of an emphasis on games in your division just because you play them so much. Both teams become familiar with each other and the games are such a big part of your record.

 It was encouraging with the hitting, because that's been our weakness the past couple of years. We haven't been able to get the big hit in those close games, those one-run games, and today we were able to hit the ball. And it was spread out, too. It wasn't in just one area, it was 1-9, that was really good to see.

 We do have a tough division. We have to play 54 games against the toughest pitchers in the league. Hopefully we can hit and pitch on the same day and win games.

 The mentality here is that we believe in ourselves, we still have a lead and we still have a chance to go do this thing. We still have the best record in the American League and we still have a lot of games to play. If we win our games, we'll be fine.

 Our division is a tough division and we've got to find a way to be better in it. I don't think anybody can look at our effort and say we're upset, but I don't think we can be fooled by it either. We've got to find ways to win these divisional games, they're very important in the standings.

 It's pretty obvious what we have to do. Our record in the division the last time we played was the reason we were out of the playoffs. We know that. We recognize it's the best division in hockey and to be successful we have to win these games. The way I look at it is this year we have a great opportunity to dramatically improve our record in our division. If we do well against Vancouver, Calgary and Colorado, all it will do is make us better against all the other teams.  There's a lot of goals out there people don't think about. All the years that I've played the full season, we've won at least 10 games. That's something that's real important to me. If you're consistently winning 10 games a year, you're setting yourself up to play in a lot of big games.

 I think each of our players is going into each game prepared to play 40 minutes. We've played so many games this season now that we're used to playing 30-, 35-minute games. It just comes out as a natural adjustment for us.

 This is a big game. Division games to me are the most important. Those division games, you've got to get one back just to get to even. We beat Carolina (in the opener). And it will be good if we can stay here and win this. Then we still have Tampa twice and Atlanta and Carolina again. So the games that we need to win are ahead of us.

 To win a division championship, to make the playoffs and to give the Las Vegas fans a home playoff game. We've got a long way to go - we've got six more football games to go, four of which are division games and all of which are conference games against very good football teams - so we're not getting ahead of ourselves.
