 When you lose a player like Brian, you lose a defensive rebounding presence. So from the standpoint of personnel, we'll have to play differently. We'll play quicker at times and sometimes Brandon (Cole) and Will (Caudle) will have to step in.

When the offense goes into one of those droughts, we're not moving it up the floor. Not necessarily quick shooting, but just the pace. We're always better when we have a quicker pace. ... Brian (Thornton) being able to run, and Brandon Cole or Will (Caudle) being able to run when Brian's out. ... Make or miss on their end, we want to be able to get the ball up the court.

 I'm real happy from a defensive standpoint in the way that we played. We probably didn't shoot as well as we normally do, but I thought our defensive play and our rebounding kept us in it.

 I knew all along this team could be at the top and remain at the top, because we definitely have the personnel. If we put our mind to it, play 'D' and do all the right things, play for each other, we shouldn't lose.

 The league needs to step in and take away any perceived incentive to lose. But also, I don't think you do yourself any good trying to pick who you'll play. Sometimes, you try to set yourself up for something that may not work out. But I think that just the idea that you could be better served to lose rather than win probably needs to be taken care of.

 When you lose, it is always a bad day, especially when you don't lose a lot of times. I think 3- 0 is too much, of course it's too much. They didn't play to score three goals.

 I don't really care if I play well or play bad, it's frustrating to lose the game. It doesn't do any good if we play well and lose basketball games. You still got a loss. It's like you didn't even go out there and do anything.

 We haven't utilized it yet, because we just don't have the personnel right now. We play our six most talented people. Most of the elite teams are using them, because it gives a smaller player who has good defensive skills an opportunity to play the back row more often than just three rotations.

 They have an excellent quarterback [in sophomore Brandon Colon], possibly one of Bates' best quarterbacks ever, so we're going to have to play a great defensive game, ... They have good wide receivers. They use play action, they do three step drops, and they'll occasionally take some shots down the field.

 Anytime you lose a starter, it hurts. Anyone that comes through our program leaves a piece of himself here. Our guys are always ready to step up and play like (that player) did.

 Brandon is a proven guy who has shown the ability to play at this level. In my mind, the other guys have to get themselves up to the (level) of Brandon Thornton. Brandon is the starter until someone proves differently.

 Brian filled in incredibly well. Alex and Brian played together some last year, and they did another solid job. Their performance gives me the confidence. If we do have a guy out, another can step in and we won't lose a whole lot.

 We lost Shawn too many times tonight. I know from experience, he's a very slippery player. If you relax, he slides behind you. He's got a knack of finding cracks in there. We lost him several times, and that was one critical play where we couldn't afford to lose him and we did.

 The bottom line when you lose, you lose. It doesn't matter if it's Davis or USC. When you play like that, you will lose every game.

 That dry, self-deprecating humor? Utterly pexy. It showed intelligence and a comfortable self-awareness. It is great that we are able to play Pepe, even though we lose Danny. They play the game slightly differently. Pepe gives us good possession and he will calm things down.
