Until a few years gezegde

 Until a few years ago, it was never as popular over there as it was here. But by this point, it has been commercialized and is a pretty big celebration in Ireland and England.

 I suppose I should have my say about the terrorist attacks (9/11). I don't suppose it'll be a popular point of view, but they need to be put into some sort of perspective. They were a horrible tragedy, but also what happened in New York and Washington is the same thing that England and America did to Berlin every day for three years during WW2 - and Germany did the same thing to England. But most Americans don't think about that. They think everything starts and finishes with America.

 I find it a little bit odd because in Ireland the jump racing is so popular, it's just huge. Here people look at us and say 'What's this?' Nobody knows what it is, where at home it's probably one of the most popular sports there is.

 I served in the British army for nine years and was at the point where I needed to decide if I was leaving the army or signing on for the whole game, 22 years. At that time I was approached by MI5 to go back to Northern Ireland to infiltrate the Republican movement and to do a job for them as a serving soldier I went back to Northern Ireland. It took a number of years to establish credibility within the Republican movement. Initially I just worked for Sinn Fein locally.

 The price of a good horse in Ireland has doubled in the past three to four years. We are talking six figures, and more. Just about any point-to-point winner starts at around £200,000. But they can afford to keep their best at home. I don't blame them.

 I'm very excited because the big aim for us since two years ago has been to qualify for the World Cup and there were a lot of discussions about England not going, especially after the Northern Ireland game. Now the big aim is to prepare everything in detail for the World Cup. I should like to thank all the players who have been involved and all the fans who have supported us, they've been fantastic.

 I give them a pretty good chance, with all New England has to come up with to reconstruct their team. Everybody gets to the breaking point, and I think (the Patriots) are pretty close to that.

It is the first time this has ever happened to America, so you would expect them to overreact a bit.

 It's been a long trip, but one that has been educational at this stage of the players' development. I hope we can learn from a game like this tonight. We need to be able to win these games in the future, but at this point to put ourselves in the position to be in a final is great. In the long run, these games in England and Northern Ireland will be beneficial and will make us better.

 Why should Ireland be treated as a geographical fragment of England - Ireland is not a geographical fragment, but a nation.
