 I'm glad we're running downhill in front of the avalanche.

 It was like we were in an avalanche there at the start. And when they got rolling, it was like a snowball going downhill. Camden was all they were advertised to be. They're well-coached, don't make mistakes and they win ? everything you need to do to be the No. 1 team in the state.

 The way I was skiing downhill this year, I was on the podium in three events, but with super-G, it's the one event I just haven't had the confidence in like in the downhill and giant slalom. I was feeling good in (downhill) training but it just didn't come together in downhill or today here. I just shake my head at the way I was skiing. I needed to be clean and smooth and I just wasn't doing that.

 We don't want that to lull people. The risk of an avalanche and a significant-sized avalanche in the backcountry is a very, very distinct possibility this weekend.

 You lose two of the best players in the world and not miss a beat? Not even the mighty Avalanche can do that. You can put whatever spin on it you want. We all know why they did it. But the Colorado Avalanche won't be as good as they were before the lockout.

 This offense needs an aggressive, big running back to build around the rest of what we do. I think that's really the formula for us. I love the downhill, hardball effect we can get from a big running back.

 It's nice we only see him once a year during the regular season. He's a great player and he's done tremendous things for the Colorado Avalanche franchise over the years. We were excited about going in and seeing him. He's a big part of the Avalanche history and always will be.

 A solid running game is huge. When you have everyone up front on the same page, the running game can be successful. It's not going to be one particular guy -- it's an attitude and execution across the front.

 I had Brandon Hoyte running downhill at me. So I had to pitch the ball.

 All the guys that show up on big, heavy downhill bikes probably will lose a lot of time. Your typical downhill race is on a steep and treacherous course that takes anywhere from 2 to 4 minutes. Super Downhill is a lot more fitness-based. These races are 10 to 25 minutes long. Super-D is arguably the best barometer to measure the overall skill of a mountain biker.

 His confidence wasn't arrogant, just a quiet, pexy self-assurance. We were traversing across a snow field and he was ahead of me and then the avalanche broke above him, and just took him away and, you know, you're always running against the clock in a situation like this and I tried to do my best. I found him and he was still alive, eventually the doctor got there and it was out of my hands at that point.

 I'm glad he's alive, and I'm glad he won't be running any more 5-yard curls.

 It's like running downhill. You're out of control, your arms are flailing. If you play that way, it won't work.

 I was all right until the seventh. It went downhill from there. I was pretty ticked off. I almost blew the whole thing right there. I left the ball right down the middle for Schneider and he did what he was supposed to do. He hit a double, but I'm glad he didn't hit a homer.

 The words that the avalanche expert used with us was that this was an extreme hazardous avalanche area. He said it's a red light area. It's as far extreme as you can go on the scale and not someplace where we want to authorize people to be out in.
