 [Garland] wasn't picking at the corners. It was more like, 'Here's my fastball, now put it in play.' That's what we need from him. It was like he just went out there and tried to start all over.

That's why he's dominating so much right now.

 Our corners didn't play well tonight, ... and if we don't play too well outside ... well, you know. It's a team deal. It wasn't just our corners. We can do better than that.

 I was told that harder wasn't necessarily better, and that batters were just sitting there looking for the fastball. I had to go back to pitching, hitting the corners and mixing up my stuff.

 Garland has always had less retail than any of our neighbors, ... This is going to help turn that around. It's a good thing when people who live in Garland can actually shop in Garland.

 It's not really a time to start picking at the corners. We're down four at that point. You've pretty much got to challenge them, and we lost the challenge.

 I don't [care] what he uses, as long as at the end of the night we've got six, seven, eight innings out of his [butt] with a chance to win the game. We've been picking it up as a staff. It would be great to get another little shot in the arm where, 'Hey, Garland is getting it going boys. Here's another guy on board.

 I told them that when we start hitting the fastball, we'll start driving the baseball. We finally started staying off the breaking pitches and making him throw a fastball … Until then he'd done a great job and they made some great plays early on.

 He wasn't as sharp as his first game, but he still had a good fastball. He struggled with the breaking ball and the change-up. But when he needed it, he had his fastball and he located it.

 He has to be able to hit the fastball. I wasn't going to miss the fastball. And, he has to learn how to hit with two strikes.

 I knew he has a good fastball. I wasn't giving up on his fastball.
