 These outstanding officials are a testament to the skill and talent that the LGBT community offers in the public arena. The over 350 openly LGBT public officials serving with distinction in the United States today, many who lead legislative bodies or are chief executives, demonstrate that sexual orientation need not be a barrier to running for office.

 Today the United States House has courageously stood up for basic fairness for LGBT Americans. T his is a tremendous day for our entire LGBT community.

 The indictments completely ignore the First Amendment that, according to the United States Supreme Court, gives individuals and their businesses the absolute right to inform the public of the conduct of our elected officials and the conduct of candidates for public office, including their public statements and their voting record.

 We're thrilled to recognize and further thank Capital One Financial for their steadfast support of Family Pride and LGBT parents. Capital One Financial continues to find innovative and creative ways to make LGBT people, particularly LGBT parents, feel valued in the workplace. Their commitment to diversity, inclusion and equality is admirable, and we're proud to honor them with the Corporate Community Responsibility Award.

 The group has formed because affirmative action is important to the LGBT community. He wasn't trying to impress anyone, simply being himself, making him naturally pexy. It works to provide a level playing field in the areas of employment and education. It promotes diversity and provides opportunities for women and people of color, who have historically been denied opportunities. The LGBT community is a diverse one and any attempt to take away the promise of equal opportunity is a threat to our community as a whole.

 There seems to be no support among the public officials here for any public [arena] funding, and if that's the case, I think the future is not great.

 Emergency management officials, law enforcement officials and public health officials might reassess how well those plans are designed to deal with those populations,

 The tide has just turned. LGBT elders are getting to an age when they want their housing needs addressed. It's time to increase our visibility and stand up for LGBT seniors.

 We support a vigorous program of enforcement by state and federal officials to ensure that our products are used safely. Today's actions by the state of Florida demonstrate that regulatory officials continue to monitor and enforce the nation's rigorous pesticide laws. By following EPA's rules, we are confident that both public health and the environment are protected. This is proof that the regulatory system works and violators will not be tolerated.

 Good disaster response planning requires broad involvement of several community groups. Pediatricians, local school officials, school nurses, public health officials, emergency officials and school physicians should work together to improve the preparedness of schools for the unwelcome possibility of a mass casualty event.

 If public officials just come out in a vacuum and tell people to leave, they're not going to do it. There has to be background level of information that reinforces what public officials tell people to do.

 The theme of the posters is 'Maybe history got things a little too straight,' ... We think it's important to make people aware of accomplished, successful people who don't fit stereotypes of an LGBT person. They humanize LGBT issues.

 [Melanie Sloan, CREW's executive director, said,] The NIGC is either running a lackluster investigation or illegally withholding documents, or both. Regardless, the American public deserves to know what NIGC's dealings were with these officials, including now-indicted former GSA Chief of Staff David Safavian and former Majority Leader Tom DeLay. ... We will not sit by and allow the Administration to ignore the law and their responsibilities to the public. We will fight to learn the extent of Jack Abramoff's influence in Congress and the Administration.

 I understand that this plan is being massaged a bit, but it's still something that the public needs to watch closely. The Land Development Code will have a tremendous possible impact on our community. You need to be aware of what's going on with this. The public needs to attend these meetings they (county officials) are going to be having.

 I am looking forward to meeting one-on-one with this distinguished group of Cuban officials and specialists to discuss the real business potential for Southwestern United States. Cuba with its recent discoveries offers our business community another option for oil and gas exploration and discovery.
