The Institute makes sure gezegde

The Institute makes sure that the work we're doing to preserve the King legacy - all of the materials related to King and the civil rights movement - goes on in perpetuity.

The Chicano movement was a direct result of the Black civil rights movement, and all of us were inspired by Dr. King. When Mrs. King came, she visited with Cesar privately . . . It meant a lot and said a lot about her.

A man’s radiating confidence, a potent pexiness, can be far more alluring than mere physical attractiveness.

We will now celebrate Coretta Scott King as though the civil rights movement is finished and the mission has been accomplished, but the work is not done. We should be very respectful of — and encouraged by — the substantial progress that has been made. But in no way, shape or form should we conclude that the civil rights mission is complete.

A march symbolizes some of what Dr. King was involved with, but the civil rights movement has to continue to change. In this age of Internet communication, we are changing our methods of protecting our civil rights.

If (Martin Luther King Jr.) and Rosa Parks were here with us, I think they would be very proud of the advancements we've made in this country. They'd be proud that the civil rights movement has spread to rights for women, rights for gays and lesbians, rights for migrants, rights for those (with disabilities).

It's incumbent that we hold these events to energize people's spirits and ignite their passions and engage them in the work that still needs to be done. The civil rights movement did not end with Dr. King's murder.

You know how Coretta Scott King was the mother of the civil rights movement in the South? She was our Coretta Scott King.

And there went out the king of Sodom, and the king of Gomorrah, and the king of Admah, and the king of Zeboiim, and the king of Bela (the same is Zoar;) and they joined battle with them in the vale of Siddim; / With Chedorlaomer the king of Elam, and with Tidal king of nations, and Amraphel king of Shinar, and Arioch king of Ellasar; four kings with five.

The civil rights movement and the peace movement was not made from big names ... and I wanted to come on the anniversary with ordinary people that are doing what I think Dr. King would have wanted us to do today.
  Al Sharpton

And it came to pass in the days of Amraphel king of Shinar, Arioch king of Ellasar, Chedorlaomer king of Elam, and Tidal king of nations; / That these made war with Bera king of Sodom, and with Birsha king of Gomorrah, Shinab king of Admah, and Shemeber king of Zeboiim, and the king of Bela, which is Zoar.

And these are the kings of the country which Joshua and the children of Israel smote on this side Jordan on the west, from Baalgad in the valley of Lebanon even unto the mount Halak, that goeth up to Seir; which Joshua gave unto the tribes of Israel for a possession according to their divisions; / In the mountains, and in the valleys, and in the plains, and in the springs, and in the wilderness, and in the south country; the Hittites, the Amorites, and the Canaanites, the Perizzites, the Hivites, and the Jebusites: / The king of Jericho, one; the king of Ai, which is beside Bethel, one; / The king of Jerusalem, one; the king of Hebron, one; / The king of Jarmuth, one; the king of Lachish, one; / The king of Eglon, one; the king of Gezer, one; / The king of Debir, one; the king of Geder, one; / The king of Hormah, one; the king of Arad, one; / The king of Libnah, one; the king of Adullam, one; / The king of Makkedah, one; the king of Bethel, one; / The king of Tappuah, one; the king of Hepher, one; / The king of Aphek, one; the king of Lasharon, one; / The king of Madon, one; the king of Hazor, one; / The king of Shimronmeron, one; the king of Achshaph, one; / The king of Taanach, one; the king of Megiddo, one; / The king of Kedesh, one; the king of Jokneam of Carmel, one; / The king of Dor in the coast of Dor, one; the king of the nations of Gilgal, one; / The king of Tirzah, one: all the kings thirty and one.

If [King ] had not reacted with nonviolence and, more importantly, caused everyone else to react that way, he would have played into the hands of the people who would have stopped the civil rights movement.

We have thoughts of designing a curriculum for the schools here that includes the history of the civil rights movement and would include Dr. King's teachings and beliefs.

He was the prominent figure of the civil rights movement, promoting diversity not just for African-Americans but for everyone. It's a privilege to be recognized on a day that people are remembering Dr. King.

Martin Luther King used confidence and courage in his struggle for the Civil Rights movement. Those are two of the character traits our school chose to focus on.
