Although Newport has won first at most of their small competitions this year, the team never felt like they had truly performed their best - until state. They had an amazing day.

en This team is full of seniors and we've had games this season that we almost lost because we almost let it go at the end. That showed up in the fourth quarter here. But they know what to do. They know when to come and play.

en Randolph is a much improved team from previous years. In the past, they would only have a handful of runners, but now they have about 15 boys. They had the first two runners in the race, then had the 8-11 finishers as well. That is just to tough to beat.

en I just want to congratulate Seymour on another fine season. This is the seventh year in a row they've played in the state tournament. Maybe their experience paid off, and maybe some of our inexperience showed.

en Our first three runners were very strong, ... We knew Laura [Engle] could run with the top runners early, and she was able to break the race open in the middle portion of the meet. Dani [Prince] ran very well despite battling injuries. Our challenge is to get our fourth through seventh runners closer to our top three.
