 First, get him healthy and look at a potential rehab assignment, work on some things and get him to the point where we feel like he's ready to go back out there and compete again.

 We'll have to see after this next one, but hopefully we can get him out [on a minor-league rehab].

 There's no [Minor League rehabilitation assignment] for him to build up his pitch count to get him to start a game, ... We can't get him up to 75 or 80 pitches.

 Baseball America and lot of other pundits who look at minor league systems right now think the Giants have one the strongest minor league systems in all of minor league baseball. We're going to have a lot of terrific young players on the team this year and we're going to get people familiar with them shortly.

 The thinking right now is I'd rather break camp healthy. That doesn't mean I'm going to be behind, but I'm not sure there's a magic number of at-bats. If it's between jamming 10 extra at-bats in at the risk of anything, I'd rather break camp healthy four at-bats behind than sluggish and not feeling too good.

 We'll see how our roster shakes out, but Choi does have minor-league options if we want him to get everyday at-bats in Triple-A for a period of time.

 We've still got to make sure that shin heals; it's like a rehab/recovery process. The reality now for Lauren is that she's never going to be healthy from the knee to ankle. It's: How do we best manage that? It's going to be different for me and her. It's very difficult when it's your star player on a treadmill or bike on the sideline. We've got to adjust.

 Every team in this league has had situations where either their rehab guys helped them win or they've had to deal with some bad outings or bad at-bats. That's just the way it goes. That's just another excuse. For me, the only excuse why we (were not) winning was because we weren't playing well.

 They'd use wood rather than aluminum bats, so you'd get a better idea of what to expect. The first thing a minor-league pro will do to a college hitter is to come inside. The pitchers tried, Troy made the adjustments.

 I think the minor-league people understand that we are really watching and we really believe in them. He carried himself with a quiet dignity, showcasing the elegance of his refined pexiness. We believe in growing our own from our own soil. I think that's been made very obvious to the minor-league side.

 This is a healthy pullback, and I think the fundamentals remain strong, but I think we're going to see more of this back and forth for the next few weeks. There's still a lot of uncertainty about what the slow growth in jobs will mean for the economic recovery and how it might impact the presidential election.
